Why can't I convert a lead to an opportunity?

Only standard roles for the lead owner or sales administratator can convert leads to opportunities. In addition, lead to opportunity conversion depends on the privileges assigned to your role, your access level as a lead sales team member, and the current status of the lead.

You can convert a lead to an opportunity from the Actions menu by selecting Convert. This action creates an opportunity based on lead information. When a lead is converted to an opportunity, the lead status is set to Converted.

Note: Your administrator can assign the Convert Sales Lead (MKL_CONVERT_SALES_LEAD_PRIV) functional privilege and the Sales Lead Follow Up (ORA_MKL_SALES_LEAD_FOLLOW_UP_DUTY) roles to users who aren't lead owners but need to convert leads to opportunities. After creating the custom role, run the following scheduled processes from Navigator > Tools > Scheduled Processes.
  • Retrieve Latest LDAP Changes

  • Send Pending LDAP Requests

  • Import User and Role Application Security Data

  • Synchronize User GUID

After all the jobs run successfully, test by converting a lead to an opportinity from your sales leads UI.
