Can I perform partial term matching when searching for my records?
Yes, you can now selectively enable Partial Term Matching for identifying fields of your choice for workspace objects. Each object can have 5 fields defined as the identifying field. Partial term matching allows search queries to return results for partial words, rather than requiring exact matches.
Your administrator can fine-tune which fields support partial term matching and allow you tailor your search results to your business needs. This improves the search experience, especially when you might not know the exact spelling or complete word.
For the objects that have detail pages, the identifying field is the one that's used to
drill down into the details page of that object. For example, you add Account as an
identifying field for Account. To perform a partial match on the Account
Name, enter Laptop as your search term, and Adaptive
Search will return results like Laptops, Laptop Dell, Laptop IBM and so on.
Only exact matches are returned for matching terms on non-identifying fields. However, if
you add a wildcard to the search term such as Laptop*, then you get all
results including Laptops, Laptop Dell, Laptop IBM and so on.
