Extend Search Region and Results for Opportunities

You can extend the search and select dialog layout for opportunities in your Sales application. Use Application Composer to modify and set custom values that suit your requirements for the search parameters in the opportunity extensible reusable region.

By extending the search and select dialog layout for your opportunities, you can tailor your search to suit your own business requirements.

Use this procedure to extend the search region and results for your opportunities search.

  1. Sign in as a sales administrator or as a setup user.

  2. Activate a sandbox.

  3. Navigate to Application Composer, in the Configuration category.

  4. In the navigation tree, expand Standard Objects, expand Opportunity, and click Pages.

  5. Ensure that the Application Pages tab is selected.

  6. Under the Reusable Regions section, duplicate the Search and Select Dialog Layout by highlighting the standard layout and clicking the Duplicate icon.

  7. Type a new layout name and click Save and Edit.

    The Edit Search and Select Layout page appears.

  8. Next to the Search Region, click the pencil icon.

  9. Under the Configure Search Region, select the fields to appear in the search region and move them from the Available Fields area to the Selected Fields area.

  10. Click Save and Close to return to the Edit Search and Select Dialog Layout page.

  11. Next to the Search Results , click the pencil icon.

  12. Under the Configure Detail Form, select the fields to appear in the search results and move them from the Available Fields area to the Selected Fields area.

  13. Click Save and Close.

  14. Click Done and ensure that the layout status for your Search and Select Dialog Layout is set to Active.

  15. Test the changes: Navigate to Sales > Opportunities as a user with access to the opportunity pages. Perform a search for opportunities and confirm that the fields you selected appear in the search and results region for your search.

  16. Publish the sandbox.
