Person Relationship Types

Determine the relationships that users can establish between students and group managers in a managed student group.

Access the Configure Person Relationship Type page: From Student Central, click Search and search for Configure Person Relationship Type.

The relationship types of Parent and child and Dependency are predefined as activated and they can't be inactivated. When an account is created for a fully or jointly managed person, the user must assign a relationship and only these predefined relationships appear at that time. Fully or jointly managed persons must establish whether they are a child or dependent of a group manager.

Activate those types that you want to appear when users assign a relationship between a self-managed person and a group manager. The relationships predefined as activated and those that you activate appear for the self-managed person. For example, if you activated the spousal type, then the spousal relationship along with the relationships predefined as activated appear when users assign relationship.

Users must establish a relationship in these account creation scenarios:

  • Fully or jointly managed person signing up for an account.
  • Administrator creating an account for a fully or jointly managed person.
  • Delegated access account creation, which means managed student group owner creating an account for fully, jointly, or self-managed person.
