Product Reviews

The Sales and Operations Planning product review process helps channel new product development by providing decision makers with visibility into the key revenue and profitability metrics associated with the new product introduction.

You can measure the profitability of a new product through an analytic that shows the revenue for new product items.

The predefined Product Review dashboard in the Sales and Operations Planning work area enables you to perform a cross-functional review of new products and the life cycle of maturing products. The dashboard has four predefined infotiles that enable you to monitor the health across the product life cycle from prelaunch planning to postlaunch performance. You can also view metrics associated with end-of-life items.

The four infotiles on the Product Review Summary dashboard are:

  • New Product Vitality: Displays the percentage of revenue contributed by a new product. New product revenue is the revenue from expected sales for products that have their Lifecycle Phase item attribute set to Prelaunch, Postlaunch, or Growth.

  • Shipments Forecast Value Change: Displays the difference in Shipments Forecast Value between the current estimate and its value in the last MAPE archive across all prelaunch items.

  • Bottom MAPE for Postlaunch Items: Displays Bottom Shipments Forecast MAPE for postlaunch items associated with shipments forecast.

  • Periods of Cover for Declining Items: Displays the Projected Available Balance Periods of Cover for Decline Item measure. This measure is calculated as the ratio of the projected available balance to the total demand.
