Overview of Maintenance Management Functional Area

The Maintenance Management functional area is a part of the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Materials Management offering in the Setup and Maintenance work area. It contains setup tasks you perform for your maintenance-enabled organizations.

This table describes the key setup tasks and whether the tasks are required or optional. Each of these tasks is further described later in the guide.

Task

Required or Optional

Description

Manage Plant Parameters

Required

Configure plant parameters that are relevant to each maintenance organization. If maintenance programs are created in an organization, ensure you set up the forecast and work order horizons.

Manage Maintenance Lookups

Optional

Create and maintain lookups that are used in the asset definition and work management. These include:

  • Work Order Type: values are predefined and can't be edited, nor can new types be user-defined.

  • Work Order Subtype: values are predefined, but you can create user-defined subtype values.

Manage Maintenance Work Areas

Required

Create and maintain work areas to represent specific regions where maintenance activities are executed. Work areas are created in the context of a maintenance organization.

Manage Maintenance Work Centers

Required

Create and maintain work centers to represent specific location where maintenance work is performed and is comprised of resources having similar capabilities. Work centers are created in the context of a work area.

Manage Maintenance Resources

Optional

Create and maintain resources to model the labor or equipment used in a maintenance work center and operation and to track usages during maintenance execution. Resources are created in the context of a maintenance organization. They're then further defined for each work center, detailing their quantity, availability, and shifts.

Manage Maintenance Descriptive Flexfields

Optional

This setup task isn't currently being used from the list of tasks in Maintenance Management. Instead, use the Search option from the Tasks drop-down list to search for the generic setup task Manage Descriptive Flexfields.

For more details, refer to the topic How You Configure and Extend Applications.

Note: For Work Order Header and Asset, you must search by name.
