Export and Import Configured OTBI Reports

You can export configured OTBI reports from one environment to another. If you have the appropriate privileges, you can export the configuration package as a .zip file and import it to your production environment.

Here's how you can do this:

  1. Navigate to Setup and Maintenance > Tasks > Manage Implementation Projects.

  2. Click the plus icon to create an implementation project.

    1. Enter a name in the field and click Save and Open Project.

    2. In the Implementation Project page, click the plus icon to create a task.

    3. In the Select and Add dialog, select Tasks from the Search list.

    4. Search for and select Configure Reports for Product Management Objects.

    5. Click Done. This captures all of the OTBI configuration data.

    6. Click Done on the Implementation Project page.

  3. Navigate to Tasks > Manage Configuration Packages. Here you can create, and export the configuration package.

  4. Click the + icon to create a configuration package.

    1. From the list, select the project that you created earlier.

    2. Select Setup task list and setup data as the Export option.

    3. Click Next.

    4. In the page that appears, select the configured package row that appears for export.

    5. Select one of the following processing options: As soon as possible or Use a schedule.

    6. A warning message informs you that the export process is about to begin and that the configuration package definition will be locked for future modifications. Click Yes to continue.

      This starts the export process.

      In the Manage Configuration Packages page, the Search Results table displays the status of the package as Locked. The Export and Import Processes table displays the type as Export Setup Data and status as Not Started.

      You can click on the status to check the progress.

    7. Click Refresh. When the process completes the status changes to Completed successfully.

    8. Click Done.

    9. Click Download, select Download Configuration Package, and save the package to a local drive. Verify that the exported data is correct.

    10. Click Done and sign out.

  5. To import the package, sign in to the production environment with the same user credentials you used for the export. Import requires the same privileges as export.

    1. Navigate to Setup and Maintenance > Tasks > Manage Configuration Package to begin the process of importing the package.

    2. In the Manage Configuration Packages page, click the Upload button on the Search Results table.

    3. In the Upload Configuration Package page, click Browse to search for the exported package and click Open.

    4. Click Get Details to get the details of the package and click Submit.

    5. To begin importing the package, click Import Setup Data.

    6. In the Import Setup Data page, click Submit.

      In the Manage Configuration Packages page, on the Export and Import Processes table you can see the type as Import Setup Data and the status as Not Started.

    7. Click Refresh . When the process completes, the status changes to Completes successfully.

    8. Click Done.
