Cost Scenario for Periodic Average Cost Enabled Cost Book

You can define cost scenarios using periodic average cost enabled cost books. However, you can create only one cost scenario for such a cost book, cost organization, and period combination.

The period must be in the open, pending close, or never opened status. You can’t create cost scenarios for closed or permanently closed periods.

You can define standard costs and resource rates for the cost scenario. Overheard rates aren’t applicable for such a cost scenario.

For cost scenarios using periodic average cost enabled cost books, you can’t set the work definition related parameters, and, therefore, roll up costs isn’t applicable for such cost scenarios. After you have defined the standard costs and resource rates you can publish the cost scenario by running the Update Standard Costs process. You can only publish a cost scenario if the corresponding period is in the open or pending close status.

A published cost scenario can’t be unpublished. But you can update and delete existing standard costs and resource rates for a published cost scenario. You can also add new standard costs and resource rates for a published cost scenario. You need to run the Update Standard Costs process to republish cost scenarios for the new standard costs and resource rates to be considered by the cost processor.

If you want to update the standard costs and resource rates for a cost organization and cost book combination but for a different period, you must first create a new cost scenario for the cost organization, cost book, and new period combination. You can then define the new standard costs and resource rates and publish the cost scenario. This will end date the existing standard costs and resource rates based on the effective start date of the new cost scenario.
