How You Use Planning Level Profiles

This topic provides the high-level process for using planning level profiles.

  1. Using the Collect Planning Data page or Load Planning Data from Flat Files scheduled process, collect your planning data.
  2. After you've successfully collected your planning data, in the Demand Management work area, on the Tasks panel tab, in Configuration, click Manage Planning Level Profiles.

The Manage Planning Level Profiles page opens.

  3. Create your planning level profile in the Draft status.
  4. When you're satisfied that your planning level profile meets your business requirements, change the status of the planning level profile to Enabled.
  5. In the Scheduled Processes work area, submit the Aggregate Collected Planning Data scheduled process for the planning level profile.

In the Planning Level Profile field, select the planning level profile.

Note: Later, you can configure the Aggregate Collected Planning Data scheduled process to be automatically run after you collect planning data.
  6. After the Aggregate Collected Planning Data scheduled process has been successfully run, submit the Create Trees for Dimensions scheduled process.

In the Collection Type field, select Net change.

In the Customer Dimension field, select Yes.

In the remaining fields, select No.

Note: Later, you can configure the Create Trees for Dimensions scheduled process to be automatically run after the Aggregate Collected Planning Data scheduled process is run.
  7. After the Create Trees for Dimensions scheduled process has been successfully run, in the Demand Management work area, create a demand plan.

On the Scope tab on the Plan Options page, in Plan Parameters, click Edit Planning Level Profiles to open the Planning Level Profiles dialog box. Select your planning level profile.

    Save your demand plan.

  8. Run your demand plan.

On the Parameters tab in the Run Plan dialog box, in Details, select the Refresh with current data option.

After your demand plan is successfully run, data for the Customer dimension is aggregated or ignored according to the attached planning level profile.

  9. On the Hierarchies tab in the Selector Tool, change the tables and graphs with customer information in your demand plan.

If your planning level profile is aggregating data by a hierarchy level, ensure that levels below the selected hierarchy level aren't selected.

If your planning level profile is ignoring the Customer dimension, ensure that the dimension hierarchies aren't selected.
