Overview of Order Shipment Cutoff Time

Use the order shipment cutoff time to tell the Oracle Backlog Management to reschedule the ship date of a sales order to a next open ship date if the system time exceeds the cutoff time for the sales order.

Let’s take an example, where you plan a sales order at 6 PM on Monday, but your carrier's last pick up for the day happens at 5 PM. You can use the order shipment cutoff time to tell backlog plan to move the shipment date to Tuesday.

This shift of scheduled ship date happens if the backlog plan is run and the system time exceeds the cutoff time for a sales order that are set at different levels.

You can define order shipment cutoff time at these levels:
  • Carrier
  • Organization
  • Ship-from organization, shipping method, destination combinations
