Create a Manufacturer Part

In the Product Development work area, you can create a manufacturer part, and then assign the part to an item.

1. Create a manufacturer part using the following steps:

   • From the Tasks panel drawer, click Create Manufacturer Part.

   • In the Create Manufacturer Part dialog box, select the corresponding manufacturer or search for it.

   • Enter a manufacturer part number and provide a brief description.

   • Select whether you want to activate the manufacturer part, retain it as inactive, or pending. Click Save and Close.

   • Enter any additional information. Click Save and Close.

2. Assign the manufacturer part to an item, using the following steps:

   • Open the item in which you want to assign the manufacturer part. Click the Structure AML tab.

   • Select the row of the item to which you want to assign the manufacturer part.

   • In the side tab, click AML, and click Actions > Select and Add.

   • In the Add AML dialog box, select the manufacturer and the part number.

   • Select whether the part is preferred or alternate. You can assign multiple manufacturer parts to an item.

   • Click OK and click Save.

   The new manufacturer part is assigned to the selected item.

You can also create manufacturers and manufacturer parts from:

• The AML tab of the item

• The AML tab in the change order

Manufacturer parts can be associated with an item in a structure. The same manufacturer part can be added to multiple items in a structure. To locate where it's assigned across all items and structures, use the Where Used side tab on the manufacturer part.
