Manage Project Groups

You can create, edit, or delete project groups on the Manage Project Groups page. You access the Manage Project Groups page from the Tasks panel of the Plan Inputs, Supply Planning, or Demand and Supply Planning work area.

Go to the work area, open the Tasks panel, and click the Manage Project Groups link.

Create a Project Group

Use these steps to create a project group:

  1. Add a project group to the Manage Project Groups page.

  2. Assign projects to the project groups.

Add a Project Group

Follow these steps to add your project group to the Manage Project Groups page:

  1. On the Manage Project Groups page, click the Add Row icon.

  2. Provide a name and description for your project group.

  3. Specify the start or end date for your project group. The start date is required and automatically takes up the current date. You can change the start date to a future date. The end date is optional.

  4. Select the planner for the project group.

  5. If the attribute-based netting rule you used for the plan is configured to Net common supply, the common supply is netted for project demands belonging to this group. You can ignore common supply netting by creating an attribute-based netting rule that doesn’t net common supply.

  6. Click Save.

Assign Projects to a Project Group

Follow these steps to assign projects to your project group:

  1. On the Manage Project Groups page, select the project group and click the Edit icon.

  2. Click the Add Row icon.

  3. In the Project list, select a project to assign to your project group.

  4. Click OK.

Validity of a Project Group

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • After a project group reaches its end date, the project assignment to the group is considered invalid. The planning process considers the assigned projects as ungrouped.

  • The process also ignores the netting sequence associated with the task designators of the expired project group.

  • To reassign projects of an expired project group to another project group, you first need to unassign those projects from the expired project group.
