Item Work in Process Specifications

The following are the Item Work in Process specification attributes and their possible values. You set these attributes when you define or update items.

Item Work in Process Specification Attributes

Attribute Name Description
Build in WIP Indicate whether to create discrete jobs or repetitive assemblies.

This attribute must be disabled if the Inventory Item attribute is disabled or if the Structure Item Type attribute is not set to Standard.

This attribute is optionally set by the item status code.

Inventory Carrying Penalty Specify, in units per day, an inventory carry penalty for jobs that are not completed before they are scheduled to be finished. For example, the inventory carry penalty for a job that is not completed for an item might be 10 per day.
Note: This attribute is no longer used in Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications.
Locator Enter the supply locator from which to issue (push) or backflush (pull) an item to work in process. You can also define a WIP supply locator for any bill that uses this item; the bill supply locator overrides the supply locator you define here. You must enter a WIP supply subinventory before you can enter a locator.
Operation Slack Indicate, in units per day, the operation slack penalty for items having lag time between operations.
Note: This attribute is no longer used in Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications.
Supply Subinventory Enter the primary subinventory from which to issue (push) or backflush (pull) an item to work in process.
Tolerance Type Specify the tolerance type for overcompletion or undercompletion as either percentage, quantity, or leave the field blank. This will be used as the default value when a work order is created for this item in Oracle Fusion Cloud SCM.

If you do not select the tolerance type, the tolerance defaults to the tolerance that you set at the organization level. If you din't set a tolerance at the organization level, the default is Null, which signifies that overcompletions or undercompletions aren't allowed.

Tolerance Value Specify the tolerance value for the selected tolerance type. It determines the acceptable percent or quantity of assemblies that you allow to be overcompleted or undercompleted. For example, if you choose Percent as the Tolerance Type, and enter 100 as the Tolerance Value, you allow overcompletions or undercompletions up to 100 percent of the original job or schedule quantity.
Type Indicate a supply type for components. Choices are:
  • Operation pull
  • Bulk
  • Assembly pull
  • Phantom
  • Push
  • Supplier
