Report Resource Requirements by Assembly

To report resource requirements by assembly item in a sales and operations plan, select the Report resource requirements by assembly check box in the plan options. The check box is located in the Supply: Advanced Options dialog box, General tab.

You can associate resource and work center requirements with assembly items or product category mix. Use these associations to better understand and adjust resource loading. You can gain insight for strategic requirements by analyzing the product mix for assembly items produced in shared, constrained work centers for better rough-cut capacity planning. You can leverage measures and reports that combine resource and product dimensions to quickly validate sales opportunities for manufactured items.

When you select the Report resource requirements by assembly check box, the planning process uses measures to analyze plan data. These measures have both resource and product as conforming dimensions to link resource requirements to manufactured assembly items. The measures used to analyze plan data include the following:
  • Resource Requirements by Assembly Item
  • Resource Quantity by Assembly Item
  • Production Plan by Resource
The planning process creates the following views for you to analyze:
  • The Resource Plan by Category and Quarter table combines the resource and product dimensions to help you review and adjust resource loading.
  • The Resource Plan by Category and Quarter graph compares Resource Requirements by Assembly Item with Resource Availability.
You can simulate changes to resource usage quantities for assembly items in bills of resources and the Resource Quantity by Assembly Item measure reflects the updates in your plans.
Note: Selecting the Report resource requirements by assembly check box can potentially slow down processing times for your sales and operations plan.
