How You Pick Reserved Assemblies for Rework Work Orders

You can optionally pick the reserved assemblies to be reworked and move them to a supply subinventory before issue. By reserving and picking the rework work order assembly item, you can simplify the rework process. You can ensure that the right assembly is reworked.

The capabilities of this feature are:

• Reserve rework work order assembly items: You can reserve for two scenarios. When the assembly is automatically issued upon release action, or when the assembly is manually issued.

• Pick the reserved assembly items of the rework work order: The work order operation items of the rework work order are reserved and picked, similar to other work order types.

Here are some key capabilities of this feature:

Specify assembly items details

You can specify the assembly item details with supply subinventory and supply locator. You can issue rework work order assembly from the supply subinventory and specify locator details when you create a rework work order. When the assembly is picked, it can be from the source subinventory and source locator specified during the pick confirm action. The material will be moved from the source subinventory to the supply subinventory. When you select the plant parameter value, Execute Rework Work Order with Manual Control, the rework assembly is manually issued. It is automatically issued from the supply subinventory and supply locator that's specified, if the plant parameter Execute Rework Work Order with Manual Control isn't enabled.

Reserve assembly of a rework work order

You can manage the behavior if the rework assembly is a plain item for different values of the plant parameter. You can perform an automatic reservation and a detailed reservation manually for the rework work order assembly. During material issue transaction, an assembly item is issued and the reservation is relieved. All pending reserved serials are relieved when the work order is Completed, Canceled, or Closed. An automatic reservation is a high level reservation with organization on hand quantity. A detailed reservation is a manual reservation with details of subinventory, locator, lot, and serial.

Reserve assembly serials of a rework work order with the single click

When the assembly item is serial controlled, you can specify the serials and reserve them using the Reserve Serials action. The serials are reserved and the lock icon is shown for the serial to indicate that it's reserved.

Reserve the same serials automatically in inventory

After reserving the assembly item serials, if you navigate to the reservations page in inventory, the details of the reservation with subinventory, locator, and serials are displayed. You can navigate to inventory from manufacturing in the Manage Work Orders page by using the Reserve Materials Manually action.

Pick the same serials that were reserved

You can pick the same serials that were reserved in inventory in the Confirm Pick Slips page. After you create the reservation and picking is initiated, you can see that the same serials are allocated. During the pick confirm action, the same serials are picked.
