The following table compares the features:

Criterion Functionality for Aggregating Data for Non-Key Customers Functionality for Planning Level Profiles
Plan type This functionality is available for demand, demand and supply, and sales and operations plans. This functionality is available for only demand plans.
Hierarchy type This functionality is applicable to only predefined hierarchies for the Customer dimension.

You can view and use the Customer Site-level data for key customers and aggregated data for non-key customers using predefined hierarchies for the Customer dimension.

You can't use user-defined hierarchies for the Customer dimension.

This functionality is applicable to predefined and user-defined hierarchies for the Customer dimension.
Availability of feature This functionality is enabled by default if you collect or load data at the Customer Site level, which is the lowest level of the Customer dimension. You need to explicitly create a planning level profile and attach it to your demand plan.
Key customers You can identify certain customers as key customers, and Customer Site-level data is stored in the MSC_MEASURE_DATA table for these key customers. You can’t identify customers as key customers and store data for them at the Customer Site level in the MSC_MEASURE_DATA table.
Control over the aggregation level The data for non-key customers is aggregated to the placeholder <zone name>:All Other sites or Default:All Other site. You can plan at the level that’s required by your business.
Applicability to different plans Your choices regarding the aggregation level, zone-level aggregation, and key customers are applicable to all your plans.

However, using the Aggregate non-key customer data to an All Other level member checkbox for a plan, you can control the access of the plan tables and graphs to customer data in MSC_MEASURE_DATA.

You can create different planning level profiles for use in different demand plans.
Use of customer data Your plan tables and graphs will contain data at the Customer Site level for key customers and aggregated level for non-key customers. You can choose to completely ignore the Customer dimension in your plans.
