Overview of Dependencies and Interactions With Other Cloud Applications

To support discrete and process manufacturing business processes, Oracle Manufacturing integrates with the following supply chain management applications:

Oracle Product Management Applications: Manufacturing references items and item structures maintained in Oracle Product Model to create and manage work definitions, work orders, and record material transactions. Manufacturing processes the item structure changes in Product Model to the impacted work definitions. Manufacturing lead times calculated in Manufacturing are updated in the Product Model.

Production Exceptions reported in Manufacturing are stored and maintained as Quality Issues in the Oracle Quality Issue and Action Management application.

Oracle Fusion Supply Chain Management Common Components: Manufacturing references Plant Parameters, Unit of Measure (UOM), calendars, shifts, and exceptions maintained in the Supply Chain Management Common Components application, for work definition and work execution. The IoT Production Monitoring application defined as a Third-Party Application in the Setup and Maintenance work area is used by manufacturing through Supply Chain Common Component services to drill down to the IoT Production Monitoring application. Default Expenditure Types defined in the Supply Chain Management Common Components application are defaulted on to project-specific work orders, resource, and orderless transactions. Manufacturing interacts with Supply Chain Management Common Components to perform Project cost transaction validations.

Oracle Fusion Trading Community Model: Labor resource instances in Manufacturing can be optionally associated to a person record maintained in the Trading Community Model. Employees and Contingent Workers defined in Human Capital Management can be associated to Manufacturing through the Trading Community Model.

Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain Planning Applications: Manufacturing interacts with Oracle Fusion Production Scheduling for constrained work order scheduling. Oracle Supply Chain Planning applications collect manufacturing data for unconstrained and constrained supply planning, replenishment planning, and sales and operations planning. Oracle Supply Chain Planning applications use the lead time values calculated by Manufacturing and stored in the Product Model.

Oracle Fusion Cloud Inventory Management: Subinventories, locators, lots and serials maintained in Inventory Management are used in Manufacturing for work order-based and orderless execution. Material transactions created in Manufacturing are interfaced to Inventory Management. On-hand and reservation details maintained in the Inventory Management application are displayed in work orders. Work order supply reservations in Inventory Management are updated when performing operations transactions in Manufacturing. Manufacturing uses inventory on-hand quantities maintained in Inventory Management to calculate the material availability and shortage at work order level. Manufacturing interacts with Inventory Management to pick materials that are required to execute a work order.

Oracle Fusion Warehouse Management System: Oracle Manufacturing integrates with Warehouse Management System via Inventory Management and Oracle Integration Cloud for the following:

  • Request material picking for work orders in Oracle Manufacturing and execute movement requests in WMS.
  • Integrate material and product transactions reported in Oracle Manufacturing to WMS.

Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain Orchestration: Supply Chain Orchestration interacts with Manufacturing to create and update work orders against supply orders. It interacts with work order business events to get details related to progress on a work order. Manufacturing interacts with Supply Chain Orchestration to create purchase requisitions and shipment lines and manage demand side changes in outside processing. Supply Chain Orchestration communicates details of purchase orders and shipments that are created in outside processing to Manufacturing. In the event of any supply side changes in outside processing, Supply Chain Orchestration communicates such changes that results in logging of supplier operation exceptions in Manufacturing.

Oracle Fusion Cloud Cost Management: Work definitions maintained in Manufacturing are referenced by Cost Management for cost planning. Work order status updates, operations and resource transactions in Manufacturing are transferred to Cost Management for cost accounting.

Oracle Fusion Cloud Procurement Applications: For procuring materials directly for work order operations, Manufacturing provides a list of work orders and related operations for displaying in the Oracle Fusion Self Service Procurement application to create a requisition with reference to a work order operation. Manufacturing references the related purchase requisition and purchase order details maintained in the Procurement applications to display in the Review Purchased Item Details page.

For contract manufacturing, Manufacturing references purchase order details maintained in the Oracle Fusion Purchasing application for display in contract manufacturing work orders.

For outside processing, Manufacturing interacts with Purchasing to display outside processing requisitions and purchase orders in the Review Supplier Operations Details page for a work order operation.

For direct item procurement for work orders, Manufacturing provides a list of work orders and the related operations to display in the Self-Service Procurement application to create a purchase requisition with reference to a work order operation. In addition, Manufacturing references the related purchase requisition and purchase order details maintained in the Procurement applications to display in the Review Purchased Item Details page.

Oracle Shipping: Manufacturing interacts with Shipping to display outside processing shipment details from the Review Supplier Operation Details page.

Oracle Receiving: In contract manufacturing, manufacturing interacts with Receiving for the creation of the receipt of the contract manufacturing service item. In outside processing, Receiving interacts with Manufacturing to progress quantities at supplier operations after the receipt and delivery of the outside processing service item. Manufacturing interacts with Receiving to display the outside processing receipt and delivery details, and manage corrections and returns from the Review Supplier Operation Details page. It also interacts with Receiving to display the receipt and delivery details for items procured directly for work orders from the Review Purchased Items Details page.

Oracle Quality Inspection Management: Inspection characteristics and inspection plans are defined and maintained in Quality Inspection Management. Manufacturing initiates inspection plans during work order operation transactions to report inspection results, and to automatically decide on dispositions of the inspected quantities or serials. Inspection results captured while reporting manufacturing transactions and stored in the Quality Inspection Management application can be accessed from the Work Execution Work Area.

Oracle Fusion Cloud Asset Lifecycle Management: Material transactions (work order based transactions and orderless transactions), and operation transactions performed in Manufacturing are interfaced to Asset Lifecycle Management for tracking product genealogy. Equipment resource instances are referenced from Asset Lifecycle Management. Equipment resource instances defined in Manufacturing are optionally associated to Assets defined in Asset Lifecycle Management.

Oracle Fusion Electronic Signatures and Electronic Records: Manufacturing interacts with Electronic Signatures and Electronic Records to capture electronic signatures and generate electronic records while managing standard operations, work definitions, reporting work execution transactions, and closing production exceptions in Manufacturing.

Oracle IoT Production Monitoring: Oracle Internet of Things (IoT) Production Monitoring Cloud in manufacturing environments helps you to monitor production flow and equipment health because it can detect statistical and pattern anomalies. The IoT Production Monitoring makes predictions based on equipment sensor attributes, configurable key performance indicators (KPIs), and a rules engine. IoT has built-in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) models and algorithms.

The prebuilt integration between Manufacturing and IoT Production Monitoring application provides operational visibility into real-time production monitoring and actionable insights by sharing connected equipment resource instances, and synchronizing manufacturing work orders. Manufacturing work orders are automatically synchronized with IoT Production Monitoring, including information about the work orders' plant, products, equipment and labor resources, and equipment and labor resource instances. In addition, it allows you to extend your current manufacturing workflows to natively include robotic and automation equipment by providing the following capabilities:

  • Define a manufacturing resource as automation equipment
  • Associate a program file name, location, and version to automation equipment resource
  • Execute an operation based on a start signal sent to the automation equipment
  • Navigate to digital twin view of automation equipment to review real-time contextual telemetry and transactional data related to work order operation execution
  • Automatically create completion transactions in Manufacturing upon receiving completion signal from automation equipment
  • Automatically create completion and rejection transactions in Manufacturing upon receiving quality disposition details from Quality Management, based on the data received from automation equipment
  • Review real-time contextual telemetry and transactional data related to work order operation execution in the digital twin view of the automation equipment
  • Automatically complete an operation based on the signal received from the automation equipment
  • Automatically report production exceptions in exception situations

Oracle Project Portfolio Management Cloud Applications: Expenditure types defined in Project Portfolio Management are associated to resources. Projects and Tasks defined in Project Portfolio Management are referenced on work orders and orderless transactions.

Oracle Fusion Cloud Maintenance Management: An equipment profile defined in Maintenance Management (part of Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain & Manufacturing) can be assigned to a standard operation resource, work definition operation resource, or a work order operation resource in Manufacturing. If an equipment profile is associated, an equipment resource instance is qualified during assignment of work or reporting equipment usage.

Oracle Fusion Cloud Talent Management: A job profile defined in Talent Management (part of Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management) can be assigned to a standard operation resource, work definition operation resource, or a work order operation resource in Manufacturing. If a job profile is associated, operator is qualified during assignment of work or reporting labor usage.

Business Intelligence: Manufacturing uses Oracle Transactional Business Intelligence (OTBI) and BI Publisher (BIP) for real-time, self-service reporting of manufacturing work orders and transactions. Business users can use the subject areas exposed in OTBI to build their own custom analyses. You can also use predefined BIP reports or build your own custom BIP reports, which require formatted layouts.

External Integration: Manufacturing supports importing Work Definitions through ADFdi (ADF Desktop Integration) templates. Work Definitions, Work Orders, Operations, Resources, and Material Transactions can be imported into Manufacturing through File-Based Data Import (FBDI) and REST web services. All view objects (VO) belonging to Manufacturing are exposed in BI Console Connector (BICC) for you to extract data out of the Manufacturing and integrate with your own external data warehouse or reporting tool.

Oracle Visual Builder Add-In for Excel: Oracle Manufacturing Cloud supports the use of Oracle Visual Builder Add-in for Excel to integrate Microsoft Excel spreadsheets with many of the Manufacturing Cloud REST services to retrieve, analyze, and edit business data from the REST service. For example, you can download your work order data to an Excel spreadsheet, work with it, and upload your changes back to the REST service. After you install the add-in, a new ribbon tab (Oracle Visual Builder) appears in Microsoft Excel. You can use the buttons in this ribbon tab to configure a worksheet to integrate with a REST service and download the data to a data table that you create in the worksheet. After you create the data table and populate it with data, you can review, modify, and create data before uploading changes to the REST service. After you integrate the Excel worksheet with the REST service, you can optionally publish the Excel workbook that contains the integrated worksheet.
