Other Actions When Creating or Editing an Item

You can do the following when creating or editing an item:
  • Refresh the item: Use the Refresh icon to view the latest updates that were done on the item through import maps, REST services, or SOAP web services. This refreshes the item page and shows the latest item data.
  • Using the More Actions icon at the top of the item page, you can do the following:
    • Add Item to Clipboard: Click Clipboard to quickly add the item to the Clipboard. You can only add items to the clipboard if you've the view or manage permissions to those items using the access control list. From the clipboard, you can navigate to the various tabs of an item according to the permissions defined in the item access control list.
    • Send Object: Send the item to specific users based on their role along with a message.
    • Download Attachments: Download attachments associated with the item individually or all attachments in a single file.
    • Assign to Change Order: Assign the item to a new change order or to an existing change order.
    • Assign to Change Request: Assign the item to a new change request or to an existing change request.
    • Change Item Class : Change the item class for an item to one of the available item cklasses
    • Apply Templates: Select and apply additional templates for the item.
  • Spotlight: Adds the item to the Spotlight tab in the Navigator. You can only add items to the spotlight if you've the view or manage permissions to those items using the access control list. From the clipboard, you can navigate to the various tabs of an item according to the permissions defined in the item access control list. The spotlight includes reference designators, substitute components, component level attributes, component level descriptive flexfields when you drag and drop (select and move) the components to the item or to a change.
  • When you open an affected item in change order context, the change order number is highlighted clearly indicating the change order.

Access to Item Attachments

Access to attachments can be secured by your administrator using an access control list. To download attachments, navigate to the item page, click More Actions > Download Attachments. For more details, see Access Control Lists for Items
