Execute Production Without Creating Workstations
Non-traditional manufacturing environments and environments with complex and dynamic shop floor requirements may not restrict tasks to workstations.
You can execute work order operations without configuring workstations in the work center. This provides greater flexibility in the manufacturing process, especially for operations not tied to a physical workstation on the shop floor.
Operators can perform the following:
- Record completed and rejected quantities, which helps provide accurate updates on the production progress.
- Track execution status in real time, which helps address issues faster.
- Automatically report resource usage for each work order operation, which reduces manual entry and helps support accurate labor and material tracking.
To begin working on a work order operation for a work center without workstations:
- Navigate to the Work Execution work area.
- Select Production Execution from the Tasks or Actions
list.
If there are no workstations defined for the organization, then the Select Work Order Operation page appears.
To begin work, select or search your work order operation. All work order operation related information, including operation attachments and previous shift activity, is available from a single page. Select Start to start the operation. Report completed and rejected quantities during execution and view real-time progress towards operation completion with automated transaction updates of completed quantities. The real-time target is the quantity a user should have produced based on the elapsed execution time and the cycle time of the operation. You can report any exceptions to help identify issues that may disrupt production and request support. When you stop an operation, the resource transaction is automatically submitted for the actual time spent during execution.
