Overview of Work Requirements

Work requirements are created in the context of a parent program and its contextual organization. You can create work requirements for each service interval task, or even a group of related service interval tasks for one or more assets. The tasks define how often the service is required, the expected resource and material requirements, and the steps required to complete the task.

In the edit mode of the existing Maintenance Program page, you can search and manage work requirements under the Work Requirements tab. Additional details for the existing page are covered in the section, How You Manage Work Requirements in a Maintenance Program.

On the Redwood page, you can directly search, create, and manage requirements right on the first tab for all programs within the organizations you can access. The status of the work requirement determines all the actions you can do on them.

Preview the forecast for a Work Requirement before releasing to Planning	Not available in this page. The only supported status values are Draft, for which no forecast can be generated, or Active. Active forecasts can generate forecasts and are immediately available for use and creation of work orders. Edits to an Active work requirement are immediately considered, there is no ability to preview the changes.	Available in this page. You can manage the creation, modeling, preview, and release of a Work Requirement to planning. This provides you the ability to preview its forecast prior to releasing it, leveraging the status of Ready to Forecast. Additionally, you can return an Active Work Requirement back to the Ready to Forecast status so you can Edit it, verify the changes before releasing it back to planning in Active status.
Manage the introduction of new assets to a work requirement	Not available in this page. You can only include or exclude Assets. Included Assets are immediately considered, there is no ability to preview the introduction.	Available in this page. You can manage the introduction or inclusion of an asset prior to its release to planning. This provides you the ability to preview its forecast prior to releasing it. Additionally, you can remove an asset from planning at any time in the future, and optionally make changes to verify their impact before releasing it back to planning.
Generate Forecasts for a Work Requirement	Available in this page. You can Generate the Forecast for a Work Requirement once you have searched for the Program, clicked on the Work Requirements tab, searched for the Requirement, and navigated to its Edit page.	Available in this page. You can easily Generate the Forecast for a Work Requirement, directly from a search result row, if it is not in Draft status.
Generate Forecasts for an Asset in a Work Requirement	Available in this page. You can Generate the Forecast for an Asset in the Work Requirement once you have searched for the Program, navigate to the Work Requirement search and Edit the Work Requirement. Navigate to the Affected assets page and the action is available for each Asset.	Available in this page. You can easily Generate the Forecast for an Asset in a Work Requirement search result row if it is not in Draft status. Navigate to the Assets tab and the action is available for each Asset that is not in Draft status.
Release a requirement to planning	Not available in this page. An Active status requirement is already in planning.	Once you have verified your modeling the Forecast preview, you can optionally release the requirement to planning status. This updates the requirement status from Ready to Forecast to Active.
Revert a requirement from planning to ready	Not available in this page. Only an Active status is supported.	If you need to make changes to your modeling criteria, you can optionally return the requirement to ready status. This will update the requirement status from Active to Ready to Forecast.
