Import Data from Interface Tables to Production Tables

At this point in the import process, the data is loaded into the interface tables and is ready to be moved into the production tables.

This process performs all the validations necessary to ensure that the data is correct before moving the data into the production tables. After successful completion of this process, the data will be available in the user interface.

Import Item

To move the data from the interface tables to production tables:

  1. From the Navigator link, go to Tools and click Scheduled Processes.
  2. Click Scheduled New Process.
  3. In the Schedule New Process dialog box, select the following:
    • Type: Job

    • Name: Item Import

  4. Click OK.
  5. In the Process Details dialog box, enter item import for the import process.
  6. Specify the following information in the Process Details dialog:
    • Batch ID: Enter a unique identifier of the batch used to import the items. It should be the same as the batch ID in the FBDI excel file.

    • Process All Organizations: Select Yes to import items from all organizations. Select No to not import items from all organizations.

    • Process only: Indicate which transaction-type records need to be processed for an item batch. Values are Create, Sync, or Update.

    • Delete Processed Rows: Indicates if the rows in the interface tables must be deleted after the processing of an item batch. Values are Yes or No.

  7. Click Submit to start the process.

    A configuration dialog box is displayed with the process ID. Make a note of the ID.

  8. Multiple processes are created for all the steps in importing the item. Various child process such as Preprocessing, Data Quality Matching, Gather Stats, Definition-Reference Org Processing, Item Import and Post Item Import are involved.
  9. View the log file for any errors (if applicable), by selecting the row in the Search Results table and clicking View Log.

    Successfully imported items and related child entities can be queried, modified, and validated.

Note: If you try to update the Engineered Item field through an import while the item is already part of a change order or a new item request that's currently open or in approval status, an error message appears preventing you from updating the field.

Assign Items to Definition and Reference Organizations

You can use the Import Reference Organization Items scheduled process to move the data from interface tables to the production tables.

To move the data from the interface tables to production tables:
  1. Go to Tools and click Scheduled Processes.
  2. Click Scheduled New Process.
  3. In the Schedule New Process dialog box, select the following:
    • Type: Job
    • Name: Import Reference Organization Items
  4. Click OK.
  5. In the Process Details dialog box, specify the following information:
    • Batch ID: Enter a unique identifier of the batch used to import the reference organization items. It should be the same as the batch ID in the FBDI Excel file.
    • Import Mode: Select the corresponding import mode to appropriately assign the reference organization assignments or create common structures across all the reference organization or both:
      • Assign all items to all reference organizations: Assigns items in the sheet EGP_IMPORT_REF_ORG_ITEMS_INT to all the reference organizations listed in the EGP_IMPORT_REF_ORG_ORGS_INT sheet.
      • Create common structures across all reference organizations: Creates common structures across reference organizations.
      • Assign items and common structures to all reference organizations: Assigns items to all reference organizations and creates a common structure for all the reference organizations.
  6. Click Submitto start the process.

    A configuration dialog box is displayed with the process ID. Make a note of the ID.

  7. View the log file for any errors (if applicable), by selecting the row in the Search Results table and clicking View Log.

    After the scheduled process is completed, you can verify that the items and structures listed in the FBDI sheet is available in the reference organizations.
