Sequence Flow Schedules for a Production Line

You can sequence flow schedules for a production line using the scheduling strategy defined in Production Scheduling.

Trigger sequencing flow schedules for a production line and a sequencing horizon using the scheduling strategy for an attribute sequence or rule-based sequence as defined in Production Scheduling. Accurate sequencing of flow schedules helps ensure balanced workloads, efficient material and labor usage, and reduced waste.

Using rules-based sequencing of production schedules, you can adjust to changing demands and improve the operational efficiency of your production lines.

To trigger sequencing for flow schedules in a production line when you have a scheduling strategy defined in Production Scheduling:

  1. Navigate to the Work Execution work area.
  2. On the Work Execution Overview page, select Manage Flow Schedules from the Actions or Tasks list.

The Production Lines page opens displaying the production lines that have been identified for the organization.

  3. From the Actions menu for your production line row, select Sequence Flow Schedules.
  4. To specify the sequencing horizon, provide a From Date and the Sequencing Horizon in Days.
  5. Submit the request. A confirmation message appears.

This sends the request to Production Scheduling, which initiates the sequencing process for the flow schedules in the sequencing horizon. After the sequencing process completes, the changes to the flow schedules are automatically released and implemented in Manufacturing.
