Overview of Maintenance Work Definitions

Work definitions are pre-defined work instructions for accomplishing the inspection, service, or repair of an asset. They represent the operation steps, material items, and resources required. They can be optionally used when creating a work order, providing a quick method to define the work scope. They are also used as a basis for defining a preventative maintenance program for an asset or group of like assets.

Work definitions can be managed globally or locally in your maintenance organizations. Additional details are covered in the next section.

Work definitions are revision controlled by numerical versions and effective on dates. This provides you the ability to track changes in the definition over time, while allowing for future versions as well.

After creation, you can generate the maintenance work definition details report, allowing for offline reviews and information exchange.
