Workflows
Here's what you can configure on the Workflow tab of a change type.
- Actions: Use Add Row to add a workflow status. Enter the sequence number and select status name. Use Delete to remove the selected status. Delete statuses with caution, because removing a status can change the workflow path and may affect change orders that currently use that status.
- Entry and Exit Criteria: Entry and exit criteria are rules that validate a change object’s progression through its workflow. They serve as checkpoints when the change object enters and exits a workflow status. For more information, see Configure Entry and Exit Criteria for Change Objects.
- Promotion and Demotion Policy: In a change type, you can
configure automatic promotion and demotion. Select whether to allow automatic
promotion and demotion for the selected workflow status.
Configure Deviation Change Requests to Remain in Approval Status: For deviation change request types, you can configure the workflow so that the request remains in the Approval status after all required approvals are complete. While the request remains in Approval, the deviation is considered effective. When the deviation period ends, an authorized user can manually promote the request to the Completed status.
Leave this field blank to prevent the deviation change request from automatically moving to Completed after approvals are complete. The request remains in Approval until an authorized user manually promotes it to Completed after the deviation period has ended. For more information on promotion and demotion policy, see Configure Automatic Promotion and Demotion.
- Additional Workflow Controls: Use additional workflow controls to control actions by participants in a change workflow. You can control which actions change participants can perform at each workflow status. For more information, see Overview of Additional Workflow Controls.
