Add a Goal to the Development Plan

These examples discuss approaches that you can use to add a development goal to a worker's development plan in their Career Development work areas.

Scenario

As a worker, I want to add a new goal to my development plan with a personal development intent.

To add a new goal to your development plan:

  1. Go to Me > Career and Performance > Career Development to open your Career Development work area.

  2. In the Career Development work area, Development Plan section, click Add to add a goal.

  3. In the Basic Info region, select the library goal if you want to use the goal from Development Goal Library.

  4. Specify the Name, Status, and Start Date for the goal. You might also want to specify other details such as Private goal, Active Goal, Target Completion Date, Category, and Completion Percentage.

  5. In the Personal Development Intent region, click Add and specify the intent name. If you find any related personal intents, select those check boxes. The development intent is displayed in the Development Intent section.

  6. Click Save. The goal basic information is saved.

  7. Enter other details that you want for the goal, and click Save and Close.

    The goal is added to your development plan. Depending on the approval process that's set, the goal is made available to you. You will have read-only access to the goal until it's approved.

Scenario

As a worker, I want to add a shared goal to my development plan. You can add goals using this approach only if goals are shared with you. To add a shared goal to your development plan:

  1. Go to Me > Career and Performance > Career Development to open your Career Development work area.

  2. The Goals Shared with Me region is displayed when your manager or colleagues share goals with you. Select the shared goals and then click Add as My Goal.

    Note: To hide a shared goal, select the goal and then click Hide.
  3. Click Save and Close. The shared goals are added to your development plan as your goals.

  4. Open the goal in the development plan and modify the goal details as required.

  5. Click Save and Close.

    The goal with updated details is added to your development plan. If approval is enabled, you will have read-only access to the goal until it's approved.

Scenario

As a manager, I want to add a goal to my reports.

To add a new goal to your reports' development plan:

  1. Go to My Team > Career Overview.

  2. In the My Team section of the Career Overview page, use search parameters and then select your reports.

  3. Select your reports for whom you want to add the goal.

    Tip: To select all your team members, select the check box next to the Add Development Goal button.
  4. Click Add Development Goal.

  5. Select the Allow workers to update goals check box to let workers update the goal.

  6. In the Basic Info region, specify the Goal Name, Start Date, and Status.

  7. Enter other details that you want for the goal.

  8. Click Save and Close.

    The goal is added to the development plan of the selected workers.
