Create a Self-Paced Learning for the Oracle Learning Catalog

Here's how you create a self-paced learning.

  1. On the My Client Groups > Learning page, click Self-Paced Learning.
  2. On the Self-Paced Learning page, click +Add.
  3. On the New Learning page, add the content. While there are fields for you to add a file, a URL, or a questionnaire, you can add only one content item per self-paced learning.
  4. Complete the required and all relevant optional details.
  5. Click Create Draft.
  6. On the self-paced learning page, optionally review the definition information.
  7. Optionally preview the content.
  8. Optionally add skills and qualifications that the learning covers. Also add any prerequisites learners need to complete before taking this learning.
    • If you don’t select Write to person profile on completion, it’s considered a related skill or qualification and helps people searching the learning catalog.
    • If you select Write to person profile on completion, it’s considered an outcome skill or qualification. And you can configure more properties, such as renewal and expiration date options. For example, to make a certification dependent on learning assignment dates, you can set the same expiration date for the certification as the learning assignment. And you can set a certification issue date that matches the learning assignment's validity start date.

Note: You can tie issue dates to a learning assignment date, such as the completion date. To do this, expand the attributes below the main row and select the appropriate option from the Issue Date drop-down list.

When learners complete refresher courses before learning outcomes with expiration dates expire, such as certificates and licenses, their outcomes don't get updated. Keep this in mind when you set expiration and renewal dates.

  9. Optionally add the learning to catalog hierarchy topics and learning communities.
  10. Optionally add rules for when to feature this learning in the Oracle Learning catalog. Also add completion and content browsing rules. If the learning content is an assessment or observation checklist, you can also specify how many attempts the learner has. Also specify whether they can review their recorded attempts and when.
