How Virtual Classrooms Work in Oracle Learning

Virtual classroom integration makes it possible for instructors to start the session, and for learners to join it, from Oracle Learning. Possible virtual classroom providers include Adobe Connect, Microsoft Calendar, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.

These are the main features of virtual classroom integration:

Automation Transferred from Oracle Learning to the Provider Transferred from the Provider to Oracle Learning Supported Providers
Session creation Information about new sessions and changes to existing sessions None Adobe Connect, Microsoft Calendar, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom
Registration Information about learners being added to or removed from a session
Attendance None

Attendance information

Attendance processing
Session recording Recorded session Adobe and Zoom

Also, instructors can start their training sessions from Oracle Learning 15 minutes before the scheduled start time. And after the training, they can view the attendance report in Edit mode on the activity details page.

Note: Instructors don’t have to be connected for the entire session duration to get the attendance report.

When the activity allows it, learners who attended the session for the minimum required time will automatically have their learning marked as Completed. Learner attendance is calculated based on when they join and exit the session. And the learner's attendance completion percentage is calculated using these equations:

  • Completion percentage: (Learner attendance duration/Session duration) * 100
  • Session duration: Actual session end time - Scheduled start time
  • Attendance duration: Learner end time - Learner start time
    • Learner end time is the earlier of either the session end time or when the learner leaves the session.
    • Learner start time is the later of either the session start time or when the learner joins the session.
For example, an activity is schedule from 1:00p to 3:00p and the instructor starts it at 12:45p and ends it at 3:05p.
Learner Joins Leaves Attendance Duration Attendance %
1 12:55p 2:45p 1h 45m 84
2 1:05p 2:45p 1h 50m 88
3 1p 3:05p 2h 5m 100

If the minimum required attendance is 80%, all three learners would have their learning assignments automatically marked as complete. If the minimum requirement is 85%, only learners 2 and 3 would have their assignments automatically marked as complete.

The virtual classroom providers available to you depend on your implementation of Oracle Learning. Also, the specific features available to learning administrators, instructors, and learners depend on the virtual classroom provider.
