Configure Anytime Performance Templates

You can configure a performance template from which you create anytime performance documents.

  1. Go to My Client Groups > Performance and select the Performance Templates task.
  2. Select the Anytime template type.
  3. Configure the rest of the template using the same steps as creating a standard performance template, including document types, process flows, performance template sections, and document periods.
    • When you create a anytime performance template, you can select or deselect the Worker can select manager when creating document check box on the Processing tab of the performance template. If selected, the worker can search and select a different manager other than the direct manager. The selected manager becomes the manager of the performance document.
    • Remember that you can't configure performance templates for anytime documents with due dates. HR specialists can add them to individual employee performance documents after they're created using the Performance Documents administration task.

Selecting a Manager

Here are some factors that determine the manager name that displays in the list of values and how different roles can select it:
  • For an employee, if Worker can select manager when creating document isn't selected:
    • If the employee has one direct manager who matches the manager type selected for the manager role in the performance template, the manager's name defaults.

    • If the employee has more than one direct manager who matches the manager type selected for the manager role in the performance template, the employee can select any of their direct managers.

    • If the employee doesn't have a manager who matches the manager type selected for the manager role in the performance template, the performance document won't display.
  • If Worker can select manager when creating document is selected:
    • If the employee has one direct manager who matches the manager type selected for the manager role in the performance template, the manager name displays as the default but the employee if required, can still select any other employee as the manager.
    • If the employee has more than one direct manager who matches the manager type selected for the manager role in the performance template, the employee can select any other employee as the manager.
    • If the employee doesn't have a manager who matches the manager type selected for the manager role in the performance template, the employee can select any other employee as the manager.
For Managers:
  • If the manager has only one manager relationship for the employee's assignment, then their name defaults to the assignment that has the relationship and can't be changed.
  • If the manager has more than one relationship for the employee's assignment (for example, they are the line manager as well as the project manager on the employee's assignment) then the manager's name defaults to the same manager type as selected for the manager role in the performance template. But managers can still choose from any of their assignments that have a relationship with the employee. The assignments don't need to match the manager type selected for the manager role in the performance template.
For HR specialists:
  • If the employee has one direct manager who matches the manager type selected for the manager role in the performance template, the manager name defaults but HR specialists can select any other employee as the manager.

If the employee has more than one direct manager who matches the manager type selected for the manager role in the performance template, HR specialists can select any other employee as the manager.

If the employee doesn't have a manager who matches the manager type selected for the manager role in the performance template, HR specialists can select any of the employee's direct managers.
