About Service Providers Accessing a Workbench Layout

At a high level, the process required to provide service providers (also known as carriers) access to an enhanced workbench layout includes the following:

Creating a Workbench Layout for Service Providers

Shippers can create multiple workbench layouts for service providers.

  1. Go to Configuration and Administration > User Configuration > Enhanced Workbench.
  2. Click the Create icon to create a new workbench layout.
  3. Enter a Layout.
  4. Enter a Description.
  5. Select a Logic Configuration. The list contains Workbench logic configurations which determine how the workbench appears.
  6. From the Domain drop-down list, select the SERVPROV domain.

Note: Service providers can only access workbench layouts which are created in this domain.

  1.  Click OK.
  2. On the Workbench: Edit Layout page, click Add Content to create a new content for the layout you created. You can add tables, a map, maps, and one Dock Scheduling Gantt chart component to your layout.

Note: By default, OTM provides the following screen sets:
Shipment: SERVPROV_BUY_SHIPMENT
Shipment Stop: SERVPROV_SHIPMENT_STOP
Location: SERVPROV_LOCATION_RESOURCE
Appointment: SERVPROV_APPOINTMENT

  1. Click Done.

Note: You do not need to click Done to save your changes. Your changes are automatically saved. The Done button closes the edit mode and switches back to the view mode.

Service Providers Accessing a Workbench Layout

By default, OTM provides the DOCK SCHEDULING WORKBENCH layout to service providers by including the layout in the following menus, SERVPROV_MENU and SERVPROV_ADMIN_MENU. You have access to this default layout which has screen sets with specific actions and SmartLinks available. You can also access other workbench layouts which shippers have created in the SERVPROV domain.  Based on the layout you select, you can view related objects (such as shipments, shipment stop, and appointments), or create appointments on available slots.

Note: Service providers cannot perform Create, Copy, Edit, or Delete on the workbench layout.

  1. Go to Appointment Management > Dock Scheduling Workbench.
  2. By default, the DOCK SCHEDULING WORKBENCH layout appears. You can select other available layouts.
  3. You can view objects based on the layout you select and perform available actions.

Note: For shipment stops, only the Schedule Appointment action is available.
