Adjusted Equipment Capacity

The Ignore Equipment Capacity Constraint check box in the general ignore screen is intended to be used for selected manual actions, such as Move Order To Shipment or Merge Shipments. When an order/shipment violates the equipment capacity but the planner knows the business situation and wants to override the equipment capacity and put the freight onto the equipment, he has the option.

The following two examples illustrate how to use the ignore equipment capacity constraint in conjunction with the Adjusted Equipment Capacity Percentage parameter.

Example 1: Move an order of 6,000 lbs into shipment of 15,000 lbs; trailer unadjusted weight capacity is 20,000 lbs.

Ignore Equipment Capacity Constraint

Adjusted Equipment Capacity Percentage 100%

Adjusted Equipment Capacity Percentage 120%

Do not ignore

Total shipment weight 21,000 lbs > adjusted effective weight on equipment of 20,000 lbs; action fails.

Total shipment weight 21,000 lbs < adjusted effective weight on equipment of 24,000 lbs; action succeeds.

Ignore

Total shipment weight 21,000 lbs > adjusted effective weight on equipment of 20,000 lbs; action succeeds with equipment infeasible.

Total shipment weight 21,000 lbs < adjusted effective weight on equipment of 24,000 lbs;, action succeeds.

Example 2: Move 10,000 lb. order into shipment of 15,000 lbs; trailer unadjusted weight capacity is 20,000 lbs.
