Order Management

Line Item Rounding

Rounding is helpful if you have order information coming from a forecasting material requirements planning tool (MRP) and your needed quantity of an item does not match the quantity that item can be delivered in. For example, you require 8,972 bolts, however, they come in boxes of 6,000.

You determine whether you want to round up or down. In the example above, you can:

  • Round down if you only want one box and 6,000 bolts
  • Round up if you want two boxes and 12,000 bolts

You can also round your order quantities up or down to one of the following options:

  • Packaging Unit Quantity
  • Layer
  • Transport Handling Unit

Oracle Transportation Management needs to know how many packaged items fall into each Packaging Unit, Layer or Transport Handling Unit depending on what you want to round to. In this example, you want to round to the closest packaging unit so you would define the number of packaged items per packaging unit using the Inner Pack Count field on the Packaged Item page (in the Material Manager). Next, you would define the order base with the appropriate rounding instructions and ordered quantity of packaged items and then release the order.
