Log Components

This page is accessed via Configuration and Administration > Power Data > Diagnostics > Log Components.

A log component defines a set of Log IDs to be collected while a particular subcomponent of the action, known as a Component Type, is running. For example, if there is a component type called MULTISTOP and you select log IDs in conjunction with MULTISTOP, then those log IDs are used only when the code components for MULTISTOP are in use, instead of at all times. This allows you to collect very detailed logs based on the component type you select for the log component, cutting down on your log processing overhead.

Log components can be used with both standard and action logs to restrict logging output.

  1. Enter a Component ID.
  2. Select a Domain Name.
  3. Enter a Component Type ID.
  4. In the Log Component Details section, select the logs to be monitored. Select the detail in the left column and click the > button to move it to the right column. See the topic Log IDs for a list of the Process IDs that you can configure for a log.

Note: Some logging options write a lot of information to the logs and should be disabled unless you need to investigate a particular instance. This is especially true for Sql and any options that have "details" in the title.

  5. To add a new detail, enter a Process ID in the Detail field (for example, Agent) and click Save.
  6. Click Finished.
