Rate Unit Break Profiles

This page is accessed via Contract and Rate Management > Power Data > Rates and Codes > Rate Unit Break Profiles.

Use this page to create a structure of units that you want to rate against. In addition to weight breaks, this page allows you to define rate unit breaks based on costs, units of measure, dates, etc.

You use your rate unit break profiles on the rate costs page where you define the cost for each break. A Rate Unit Break Profile is a group of common Rate Unit Breaks. First, define the profile, then define individual rate unit breaks that belong to it.

Choose how Oracle Transportation Management should interpret your table in Lookup Type.
  • CONTINUOUS RANGE - specified by min values: Match an actual value to a range between the break values you define where the range is defined as an inclusive minimum.
  • CONTINUOUS RANGE - specified by max values: Match an actual value to a range between the break values you define where the range is defined as an inclusive maximum.
  • LOOKUP EXACT VALUE: Match an actual value to the exact value in the break max column.
Choose what Data Type you will use as the break max. Depending on your choice, you can specify your break max differently. For example, if you select Unit of Measure from the list, you are prompted for a UOM Type. Additionally, if you select Currency from the list, you also need to select a currency type when you enter the break max amount.

Rate Unit Breaks

Note: Marginal rating does not work with rate unit breaks.

Use the Rate Unit Break ID field to identify a rate unit break. Since the rate unit break ID must be unique across all rate unit break profiles in your domain, you may want to include the rate unit break profile ID in the rate unit break ID.

In the Break Max field, enter the upper limit of a range (lookup type = continuous range) or the exact value to match (lookup type = lookup exact value). If there is no Break Max defined, then the rate unit break is ignored by the rating engine.
