Cooperative Routing

Constraints

This page is accessed via Cooperative Routing > Setup > Constraints.

Cooperative routing constraints data is defined by the user to model fleet or scenario constraints. A constraint set defines the feasibility for a cooperative routing route, including minimum route volume, maximum total deadhead distance, and so on. A constraint set can be associated with a fleet or scenario. If a constraint set exists for a fleet, the constraint applies to routes assigned to this fleet. Otherwise, the value from the scenario's constraint set constraint is used.

If any route violates any applicable constraint, the route is infeasible. If the fleet constraints do not have a particular constraint, for example, the minimum route distance, then the corresponding scenario constraints value is used instead.

Adding a Cooperative Routing Constraint

  1. Enter a unique code for the constraint in the Constraints ID field.
  2. If necessary, change the Domain Name from the default value.
  3. Enter any or all of the following constraints. They are all optional:
    1. In the Max Time Btw Rests field, enter the maximum allowable continuous time without a layover.
    2. In the Min Rest Time field, enter the hours of service constraints minimum layover time.
    3. For the fields Min Time BTW Shipments and Max Time Btw Shipments, enter the minimum/maximum allowed time for a route between the end of one leg and the beginning of the next leg. Note that the Min Time Btw Shipments is not applied against the deadhead from the start depot or to the last depot, but Max Time Btw Shipments is.
    4. For the fields Min Distance Btw Shipments and Max Distance Btw Shipments, enter the minimum/maximum allowed distance for a route between the end of one leg and the beginning of the next leg. Note that the Min Distance Btw Shipments is not applied against the deadhead from the start depot or to the last depot, but Max Distance Btw Shipments is.
    5. For the fields Min Route Duration and Max Route Duration, enter the minimum/maximum duration for the route.
    6. For the fields Min Route Distance and Max Route Distance, enter the minimum/maximum distance for the route.
    7. For the field Max Route Deadhead Distance, enter the maximum distance for a route that is not included in a forecast, i.e., empty drives between legs and from and to fleet depots.
    8. For the field Max Route Deadhead Percent field, enter the maximum portion of a route's distance that can be empty transport.
  4. If you want, enter a Description.
  5. Click Finished.
