Buy/Sell Rate Records

The Buy Rate Record ID and the Sell Rate Record ID fields are accessed via:

• Order Management > Purchase Order > Order Base. Select the Constraints tab.
• Order Management > Order Release > Order Release. Select the Constraints tab.

The Buy/Sell distinction is also valid for rates. For example, you may have one rate for buying transportation services and another rate that you use to bill customers for those same transportation services. The sell-side rate may take into account any markups, discounts, or other factors that contribute to profitability, revenue vs. expense and so on.

To use these fields effectively, you have to create the appropriate rates that properly reflect how you plan to sell transportation services versus the rates that you use to buy the same services.

If you do not assign a sell-side rate, Oracle Transportation Management finds the best matching sell-side rate to create the bill. If Oracle Transportation Management cannot locate an appropriate rate, no bill is prepared.
