Landed Cost

Estimated Landed Cost: New Simulation

This page is accessed via Landed Cost > Landed Cost Simulator. Enter shipping information, sourcing options, and sourcing details and then click Show Landed Cost.

Once you click Show Landed Cost, the following processes are executed sequentially:

  1. A call out is made to the external tax engine, along with all the input including value qualifiers and their individual costs, to get estimated duties and taxes from a third party data provider.
  2. Depending on the logic configuration, the system will assign and calculate charges and other applicable values to calculate the landed cost for each sourcing option.
  3. The system will then display the estimated landed costs for each sourcing option. On the right you can see shipment information like Country of Import, Result Currency, Exchange Rate Date, Classification Type, Classification Code, Item, and Quantity. On the left, for each sourcing option, the following information is displayed:
    • Image corresponding to the transport mode used
    • Country of Origin
    • Incoterm
    • Transport Mode
    • Invoice Value
    • Default landed cost value (without any trade agreement)
    • Other landed cost values (depending on trade agreements applicable)

Following legend is used to highlight the results:

  • Red: Indicates the highest estimated landed cost across sourcing options
  • Green: Indicates the lowest estimated landed cost across sourcing options
  • Orange: Indicates estimated landed cost results other than the highest and the lowest values

Click the Show Details link provided for each option to view the list of all the applicable value qualifiers along with their costs, duties, and taxes.

Note: Among the list of the value qualifiers is the component CUSTOMS VALUE, which is the base amount that the data provider will consider during tax callout for duty calculation.

For each sourcing option and duty rate combination you can see:

  • The charges in both the original currency and the result currency
  • The method of calculation applied to calculate charges of the value qualifiers
  • Whether the value of a value qualifier was locked so that a system-generated value would not override the value
  • The Value Note column specifying the formulas used to evaluate values for formula-driven value qualifiers, and duty and taxes

Per Unit Cost

Besides the total estimated landed cost of a sourcing option, you can also view the landed cost of each unit.
