Capacity Manager Dates/Times

This page is accessed via Operational Planning > Capacity Management > Capacity Limits.

The following date and time information is critical for understanding Capacity Management functionality.

Effective/Expiration Dates

The Effective Date and the Expiration Date represent total available capacity based on the time period you have selected (for example, a yearly capacity limit could be specified with an effective date of 2008-01-01 00:00:01 and an expiration date of 2008-12-31 23:59:59).

Start/End Dates

Start Dates and End Dates represent time increments that are subsets of an overall period (for example, a recurring capacity of 100 per month for 6 months could have a start date of 2008-01-01 00:00:01 and an end date of 2008-01-31 23:59:59, another start date of 2008-02-01 00:00:01 and an end date of 2008-02-28 23:59:59, etc.).

Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) Conversion

Effective dates/times and Expiration dates/times entered as part of a capacity commitment for a service provider are automatically converted from the time zone of the service provider to GMT. For example, if a service provider has a daily capacity commitment of 4 shipments per day, the following shipments would fall under the same capacity usage time period:

  • Shipment 1: Start time 6/13/08-11:00PM EDT
  • Shipment 2: Start time 6/13/08-11:00PM CDT
  • Shipment 3: Start time 6/13/08-11:00PM MDT
  • Shipment 4: Start time 6/13/08-11:00PM PDT

The four shipments shown above would all be converted to 11:00PM, GMT.
