Accessorials Tab

This page is accessed via Contract and Rate Management > Contract Management > Rate Offering or Rate Record > Accessorials tab.

A rate offering or record may include additional charges that apply when certain conditions are met. These surcharges, called accessorials, are used for planning purposes to define a charge that the customer can anticipate happening when an order is placed but the additional cost is not applied to a shipment unless the service provider specifies that accessorial in the rate offering. For instance, an extra charge for compartment cleaning may be applied to a shipment of food. In this case, an accessorial is associated with the order or shipment and it is also specified in any rate offerings from service providers. When an accessorial applies to all orders on a shipment, the accessorial charge is allocated based on how it is defined in your allocation rules. If the service is included at no extra charge to the customer, it should not be defined as an accessorial for the rate offering.

Note: Accessorial information entered in rate records overrides any accessorial information in the associated rate offering.

Use the Accessorial Code ID to specify which types of accessorials are available.

Note: If there is more than one accessorial charge assigned to a rate offering or record, then they are charged in alphabetical order based on the Accessorial Code ID.

Use the Accessorial Cost ID to specify the cost of providing the accessorial. To prevent the risk of two unrelated rates (rate offerings or rate records) using the same accessorial cost and then changing the accessorial cost for the other rate, you should always create a new accessorial cost. It is also good to include the ID of the rate in the ID of the accessorial cost.

Note: If an accessorial attached to a rate expires, it is not charged to the shipment or bill with which the rate is associated.
