Creating a Calendar

This page is accessed via Shipment Management > Power Data > Calendar > Calendar Definitions.

Use calendars to define when a location is available for shipping activities, and which shipping activities occur. To help with shipment planning, associate calendars with locations, itineraries, accessorials, special services, and communication methods.

  1. Enter an alphanumeric ID for the calendar in the Calendar ID field.
  2. Enter a name for the calendar in the Calendar Name field.
  3. Enter any text to describe the calendar in the Calendar Notes field.
  4. Select the appropriate option for the type of calendar you want to create:
    • Select the first option to define a cyclical calendar using the available duration and date fields, or
    • Select the second option to define an annual calendar with non-cyclical activities.
  5. Perform the following steps when entering activities on a cyclical calendar:
    1. Enter a numeric value for the day in the cycle when a particular activity occurs in the Day field. In the fields below, enter a time period for the activity.
    2. Select an activity from the Activity drop-down list.
    3. If you want the activity you selected to occur during the period you defined, mark Perform.
    4. If you want to exclude the activity you selected from occurring between the start and end time, mark Don't Perform.
    5. Repeat the steps above for each activity and day you must define.
    6. Click Next.
    7. Enter any override activities.
    8. Click Finished.
  6. Perform the following steps to enter activities on an annual calendar:
    1. Enter the name for the period you are defining in the Override Name field. (For example, enter SUMMER.)
    2. Select the date when you want to begin the activity from the Calendar. (Required)
    3. Choose the date on which to end the annual calendar. (Required)
    4. Select an activity from the Activity drop-down list. The drop-down list contains system defined activities.
    5. If you want the activity you selected to occur during the period you defined, mark Perform.
    6. If you want to exclude the activity you selected from occurring between the start and end time, mark Don't Perform. Choosing Don't Perform tells Oracle Transportation Management not to execute that activity during a specific time period.
    7. Click Save.
    8. Repeat the steps above for each activity you want to define.
    9. Click Finished.
