Resource Schedule Instance

This page is accessed via Fleet Management > Resource Management > Resource Schedule Instance.

A resource schedule instance is used to represent the availability of resources, such as a group of drivers, on a particular day at a particular location. An instance is usually created from the Generate Resource Schedule Instance action but may be entered manually. Additionally, a resource schedule instance can be generated automatically by running a bulk plan when the GENERATE RESOURCE SCHEDULE INSTANCES parameter is set to True.

The resource schedule instances are used during bulk planning if the associated resource schedule belongs to the resource schedule profile specified in the RESOURCE SCHEDULE PROFILE ID Resource Scheduler parameter, CREATE WORK ASSIGNMENTS is set to True, and FLEET AWARE BULK PLAN parameter is True in the parameter set.

Adding a Resource Schedule Instance:

1. Enter a unique Resource Schedule Instance ID.
2. Select a Domain Name.
3. Enter a Name for the resource schedule instance.
4. Enter a Description.
5. Enter a Resource Schedule ID. If the resource schedule instance is generated from a resource schedule, that resource schedule is listed here. When manually adding a resource schedule instance, specify the resource schedule to which the instance is tied.
6. If the resource schedule ID you entered has a resource type of DRIVER, enter a Driver Type ID. It can be used to provide default values for rate offerings.
7. Enter a Start Location and an End Location.
8. Enter a Start Location Profile and an End Location Profile. If you populate a start location profile, then no Not Freight Related (NFR) stop will be added when the first stop on the first shipment matches the start location profile. If it does not match, then an NFR stop at the start location will be added to the start of the first shipment. Similarly, if you populate an end location profile, then no NFR stop will be added when the last stop on the last shipment matches the end location profile. If it does not match, then an NFR stop at the end location will be added to the end of the last shipment.
9. Enter a START NFR LOCATION OPTION and an END NFR LOCATION OPTION. The START NFR LOCATION OPTION has three values.
   • Start Location: If first location on first shipment is not in location profile then start location from RS is used as NFR by default unless start location from RSI is the same location as first location on first shipment. 
   • Nearest Profile Location: If first location on first shipment is not in location profile then choose nearest location from the location profile from the RSI. 
   • Do Not Add NFR:  Do not add an NFR stop even when first location on first shipment is not in the location profile.
10. Similarly, you can choose any of four values from END NFR LOCATION OPTION.
    • End Location: If last location on last shipment is not in location profile then end location from Resource Schedule Instance is used as NFR by default unless end location from RSI is the same location as last location on last shipment.
    • Nearest Profile Location: If last location on last shipment is not in location profile then choose nearest location from the location profile from the RSI.
    • Same As First Shipment Start: Use the start location from the first shipment (could be an NFR that was just added with above logic) as the NFR location for the end of the last shipment.

    • Do Not Add NFR: Do not add an NFR stop even when the last location on last shipment is not in the location profile.

11. Enter a Resource Count. This represents the actual number of resources available, such as drivers, that have this schedule. It does not show the current status of available resources.
12. Enter a Start Time. This is the actual date and time of day that the resources start their shift.
13. Enter a Duration by specifying days (D), hours (H), and minutes (M). This represents how long it takes the resources to get from the start location to the end location to include all shipments within the work assignment between the start and end location.
14. Enter a Rate Offering. A rate offering is used to cost and drive shipments when creating and stringing together shipments into a work assignment.
15. Enter an Equipment Group Profile ID to only consider shipments with a particular equipment group.
16. Click Finished.
