Process Management: Operational Planning

The Process Manager provides several options for controlling the batch processing of orders, shipments, bills, and invoices. Within each option, you can determine exactly what gets processed based on specific queries that you define and when it gets processed based on specific time intervals.

When you run any of these processes, a confirmation page appears with a View Execution Details link that you can use to view processing details.

  • Appointments
    • Batch Schedule Appointments: enables you to schedule appointments for multiple shipments. The shipments are determined by a saved query. If you want to override existing appointments, select the Reschedule checkbox.
    • Set Appointment Priorities: enables you to set appointment priorities on multiple shipments. The shipments are determined by a saved query.
  • Assign Partition: assigns partition IDs to order releases based on a partition profile.
  • Bulk Continuous Move: allows you to create continuous moves from a group of shipments.
  • Bulk Plan Order Movements: allows you to create order movements from a set of order releases.
  • Bulk Plan Order Releases: allows you to create buy or sell shipments for a set of order releases.
  • Bulk Rating: rates shipments based on saved query criteria.
  • Bulk Trailer Build: allows you to create trailer builds from any number of shipments that you group together.
  • Generate Ground Schedule Shipments: a batch process to generate shipments from a ground schedule.

Logs

The following types of logs exist:

  • Agent: a log of each agent execution. Each record represents an agent initiation, completion, error or user-specified log instruction.
  • Agent Actions: a log of each agent action execution. Each record represents an action initiation, completion or error.
  • Integration: record events related to the integration of data, via XML schemas, between the database and external systems. These logs display the time, transmission number, code, and other statistics about integration events.
  • System: is a default log file that records the time, severity, and other data about system events such as status changes, planning actions, and rate engine actions.

Diagnostics

Note that Diagnostics must be enabled for the following. To enable diagnostics, the glog.otmdiag.log property must be On (it is on (true) by default). In addition, either the Diagnostic user preference or Tracking Diagnostics on the Settings and Actions page must be On.

  • View Diagnostics: lists the files for a particular date for the domains for which you have access. You can also view diagnostics for various results pages.
  • Compare Diagnostics: enables you to select two different logs and compare the results. You may want to run a process once and then change a setting or parameter and run the process again. You can compare the logs of the two processes.
  • Clean Diagnostic Logs: deletes diagnostic logs to improve performance, if you are using diagnostic logs.

Recurring Processes

Use this process to modify the schedule of any process found on the Process Manager menu. To modify a schedule, a process must have been previously executed.
