Planning Group Definitions

A planning group is a business object that you can use to group a set of related orders for shipment planning. For example, create a planning group for orders that you want planned together to achieve maximum cost savings or those that have similar source and destination locations. Next, create order releases for the orders that you want to plan together. The order release inherits the planning group assignment from the order. Then you can use the Build Shipments option in the Process Manager to create shipments for all orders with a specific planning group assignment by creating a saved query with a specific planning group value.
A planning group consists of an ID and Description. Once you create a planning group, you can assign it to any order base in the Order Manager.
