Optimize the Cart-Based Putaway Flow

AUTO-LAUNCH BUILD PUTAWAY CART FROM RF - SORT AND RECEIVE

The RF-Sort and Receive screen (module: rf.inbound.cwrfsortandrecv) supports automatic launching of the Build Putaway Cart to improve workflow efficiency and reduce manual steps after processing received LPNs.

A parameter “next-screen-to-launch” introduced in RF Sort and Receive is used to define the next RF screen that automatically opens after “Ctrl-E: End Tote” and LPN Scan.

Note: Currently, this feature supports calling RF screens from the module "rf.inbound.cwrfbuildputawaycart", with the transaction screen name configured in the parameter value.

The following flow applies when the “next-screen-to-launch” parameter is configured with a valid Build Putaway Cart screen:

  • After Ctrl-E: End Tote and LPN Scan, the system invokes the Build Putaway Cart for the scanned LPN/Tote.
  • Once the Putaway allocation is successful:
    • If auto-assign-task is enabled (in the Build Putaway Cart configuration):
      • The Execute Task screen opens immediately.
      • Upon completion, the system returns to RF – Sort and Receive.
    • If auto-assign-task is disabled or the Task Template is missing:
      • A message displays: “Putaway cart task creation submitted for processing.”
      • The system then navigates back to RF – Sort and Receive.
Note: When the Build Putaway Cart is triggered from Sort and Receive, the Sort and Receive location prompt does not appear.

LPN SCAN PROMPT FOR SHARED POSITIONS IN RF PUTAWAY CART

During RF Palletize, multiple LPNs can be placed in the same pallet position.

When performing Build Putaway Cart for the pallet, specifically during the Pick Cart transaction, if ‘pick-confirmation’ is set to ‘Position’, and multiple LPNs exist in the same position, there is a potential risk of selecting inventory from the wrong LPN.

To prevent this, the Putaway Cart process includes an additional LPN scan prompt after the position scan when multiple LPNs are detected in the scanned position.

Note: Additional Updates
  • A hot key CTRL+L is available on the RF Build Putaway Cart / LPN Scan screen to display the LPNs already scanned to the cart.
  • The CART_POSN_NBR field now accepts both alphabetic and numeric values. It is stored as text with a maximum length of 15 characters, ensuring consistency with the pallet position field. This change resolves the issue that occurred when a pallet defined with an alphanumeric position was used as a cart that only supported numeric values.
