Block and Unblock Shipping for Multiple Orders on Order Header
You can use the Order Header UI to block or unblock shipping for multiple sales orders at one time. This helps warehouse supervisors manage large order volumes without opening and updating each order separately. You can use this feature when orders must stay on hold, such as school orders that cannot ship before a term starts, embargoed orders, or orders affected by carrier or route issues. When the hold no longer applies, you can remove the shipping block from eligible orders in the same screen. The Order Header UI includes two actions:
- Block Shipping
- Unblock Shipping
You can select one or more orders and update the Shipping Blocked flag in a single action. When you apply the shipping block, WMS prevents the packed LPNs for those orders from being loaded and shipped. When you remove the shipping block, WMS releases the hold so the orders can continue through the shipping process. After each action, WMS shows how many orders it updated out of the total selected. If some orders fail validation, you can view the reason in the message details.
Before you begin, ensure you have:
- Select orders that are still eligible for shipping block updates.
- WMS does not apply or remove the shipping block for orders that are already Shipped or Canceled.
- For removing a shipping block, WMS also checks whether the order has an active replacement order. If a replacement order exists and is not canceled, WMS does not remove the shipping block from the original order.
Apply Shipping Block to Multiple Orders
- Open the Order Header UI.
- Search for the orders that you want to place on shipping hold.
- Select one or more orders.
- Click Block Shipping. Review the confirmation message.
WMS applies the shipping block to all eligible selected orders. If only some orders are eligible, WMS updates those orders and shows a message such as “Shipping block applied for X orders out of Y orders selected”.
To understand why any order was not updated, open the message details. For example, WMS may show that an order is not in a valid status for applying a shipping block.
If all selected orders are Shipped or Cancelled, WMS does not run the update and shows that all selected orders are not in a valid status for applying a shipping block.
Remove Shipping Block from Multiple Orders
- Open the Order Header UI.
- Search for the sales orders that you want to release from shipping hold.
- Select one or more orders.
- Select Unblock Shipping. Review the confirmation message.
WMS removes the shipping block from all eligible selected orders. If only some orders are eligible, WMS updates those orders and shows a message such as “Shipping block removed for X orders out of Y orders selected”.
To understand why any order was not updated, open the message details. WMS may show that the order is Shipped, Cancelled, or has an active replacement order.
If all selected orders are Shipped or Cancelled, WMS does not run the update and shows that all selected orders are not in a valid status for removing a shipping block.
