Printing LPN Labels

When you configure the screen parameter “print-labels” as Inbound LPN Label, depending on different screen parameters, labels will be printed as described below:
  • In general, an LPN Label is printed after each LPN is received.
  • If the screen parameter “pallet-handling” is configured as Palletize after receipt, an LPN label is printed after each LPN is received on the pallet.
  • If the screen parameter “pallet-handling” is configured as LPN or Pallet receiving and if a pallet is received, then LPN labels are printed for all LPNs on the pallet after successful receipt of the pallet.
  • If the screen parameter “pallet-handling” is configured as Palletize Upfront, and if the pallet has more than one LPN, then LPN label is printed after each LPN is received on the pallet.
  • If the receiving option is configured to cross dock, an LPN label is printed as soon as the LPN is marked as received (LPN Status changes to received).
  • If the screen parameter “prompt-location” is configured as Prompt if not known, then the LPN Label is printed before the location is prompted.
  • If the screen parameter “lpn-prompt” is configured as Auto Generate, then an LPN Label is printed after each LPN is received.
  • If the screen parameter “lpn-prompt” is configured as Auto Generate and the screen parameter “single sku management” is configured as assume single sku/restrict multi sku and “mode” is configured as by-sku-scan, because the system creates an LPN after scanning the first SKU, an LPN Label is printed after the LPN is received.
  • Labels will be printed even if the LPN has been marked for QC.

Dynamic Prefix for Blind Labels

You can add a dynamic prefix when generating blind labels for various UI/Mobile screens. You can use this feature for your benefit by generating labels of the same type, but with unique dynamic prefixes tailored to specific customer or regulatory requirements.

IB CONTAINER UI

You can define dynamic prefix in the Blind Labels dialog window for all labels (IBLPN/OBLPN/Pallet labels) type via Ib Container UI. This is a non-mandatory field and supports up to 50 character. The Prefix passed in the IB Containers takes precedence over SeqCounterView Prefix for BLIND_LPN_NBR / OBLPN / BLIND_PALLET_NBR and updates the respective blind labels.

Steps to enable:

Follow these steps to define the dynamic prefix in the following UIs:

  1. Go to the IB Container (IbContainerView) UI.
  2. Click the Blind Labels action button. Blind Labels dialog window is opened.
  3. Enter all the required fields and the prefix of your choice.
Note: Choose the Label Type from the drop-down button for which you want to generate the blind label.
  4. Click Submit.

Print Pallet Labels and Pack/Case Quantity Display Updates

Print Pallet Labels

You can now print pallet labels from a new screen parameter in various Mobile transcations.

When the parameter is configured to Yes, the system processes to print pallet labels. This functionality is triggered by specific hot keys, allowing users to efficiently manage printing tasks directly from the system interface.

Steps to enable:

  • Set the Parameter to Yes:
  • Ensure that the parameter is set to "Yes" to enable the pallet label printing feature.
  • Trigger Label Printing:
  • Press the Ctrl-E hot key to initiate the 'End Pallet' process.
  • Upon pressing Ctrl-E, the system will automatically start printing the pallet label.
  • A confirmation message, "label print triggered for pallet%", will be displayed.
  • Change the Default Printer (If Needed):
  • If you need to change the default printer, use the Ctrl-P hot key.
  • Note that the Ctrl-P hot key is only enabled if the parameter is set to "Yes."
  • Add a Printer:
  • If no default printer is available, you will need to add a printer to proceed with label printing.

Dynamic Prefix in Pallet UI

You can define dynamic prefix in the Print Blind Label dialog window from the Pallet UI (PalletView). The Prefix passed in the Print Blind Label takes precedence over SeqCounterView Prefix for BLIND_PALLET_NBR.

Steps to enable:

  1. Go to the Pallet UI (PalletView).
  2. Click Print Blind Label action button. The Print Blind Label dialogue window is opened.
  3. Enter all the required fields and prefix of your choice.
  4. Click Submit.

Print Pallet Labels in Palletize

You can print pallet labels from the Print Label screen parameter in the Palletize module (rf.inbound.cwrfpalletizeplt).

Parameter Name Parameter Type Parameter Options Default Behavior
Print Label Selection Blank | Yes | No Blank (acts as No)

Pack and Case Quantity Display Updates

The Pack and Case Quantity display is updated in several Mobile transactions. Refer to the Unit of Measure Reference Document for details on the screen changes.

Print Blind Labels

You can define dynamic prefix by prompting the newly introduced screen parameter “prompt_prefix” via Print blind labels ( rf.inbound.cwrfprintblindlabels).

The parameter prompt_prefix contains two choices:

  • Prompt: The system prompts for the Prefix to generate the blind labels and takes precedence over SeqCounterView Prefix for BLIND_LPN_NBR / OBLPN / BLIND_PALLET_NBR and updates the respective blind labels.
  • Do Not prompt: The system continuous to honour the configured SeqCounterView Prefix for BLIND_LPN_NBR / OBLPN / BLIND_PALLET_NBR and generates the Blind labels.
Note: Even on configuring the dynamic prefix, the system will continue to honor all other SeqCounterView configurations of the corresponding Counter Code. Example: 'Sequence Length' / 'Append Facility Code to Prefix' / 'Current Nbr '/ etc.

Also, after passing the dynamic prefix and successfully generating the blind labels, the system updates ONLY the 'Current Nbr' of the corresponding SeqCounterView. Users must ensure that the system continues to honor the company parm USE_SAME_IBOB_LPN_CNTRS when using blind LPN. If the dynamic prefix isn't passed, the system continuous to honor the configured Sequence Counter View 'Prefix' for IB Container, OB Container, and BLIND_PALLET_NBR and generates the Blind labels.

Steps to enable:

  1. Go to the Print Blind Labels module.
  2. Screens > Screen Parameter > prompt_prefix parameter.
  3. Set the parm choice to Prompt.
  4. Click Save.

Print Labels from Mobile LPN Inquiry and Mobile Pallet Inquiry

Warehouse operators often need to reprint an LPN or pallet label while they check details on a handheld device. Instead of leaving the inquiry flow and opening a separate print transaction, they can print the label directly from the Mobile inquiry screen. You can use Ctrl-P in Mobile LPN Inquiry or Mobile Pallet Inquiry to print the label for the scanned LPN or pallet. WMS prompts for a printer, uses the default printer when available, and records the print activity in Label Printing History. You can use this feature to:
  • Reduces extra navigation on handheld devices.
  • Supports default printer selection.
  • Scan a different printer when needed.
  • Records label printing history for review.

Before you begin to print, ensure you:

  1. Configure the required LPN or pallet label template.

  2. Configure Label Rules Engine if your warehouse uses label rules.

  3. Configure a default printer for users who print labels from Mobile.

  4. The required print permissions is provided to the users, including access to print history or reprint actions if needed.

  5. Use Facility Message Configuration if you want to hide the print confirmation message.

To Print an LPN Label from Mobile LPN Inquiry, do the following:
  1. Open Mobile LPN Inquiry.

  2. Scan the LPN number.

  3. Review the LPN details.

  4. Press Ctrl-P.

  5. Scan or confirm the printer.

  6. Press Tab to print the LPN label.

  7. Confirm that WMS displays the message: label print triggered for LPN%

To Print a Pallet Label from Mobile Pallet Inquiry, do the following:
  1. Open Mobile Pallet Inquiry.

  2. Scan the pallet.

  3. Press Ctrl-P.

  4. Scan or confirm the printer.

  5. Press Tab to print the pallet label.

  6. Confirm that WMS displays the message: label print triggered for LPN%
Note: When you press Ctrl-P, WMS opens the printer prompt. If a default printer exists, WMS shows it automatically. You can use the default printer or scan a different printer before printing. If no default printer exists, WMS displays a warning that label printing may fail.

For pallet labels, WMS displays No Pallet Found if you press Ctrl-P before scanning a pallet. WMS prints the label using Label Rules Engine when it’s configured; otherwise, it uses the label template configuration. WMS also records the print activity in Label Printing History.
