Oracle Accessibility Conformance Report

VPAT® Version 2.3 - April 2019

Name of Product:

Java Compatibility Kit 20

Product Description:

Java Compatibility Kit 20 (JCK 20) is a collection of tests that is used to ensure compatible behavior between implementations of the Java SE (Standard Edition) 20 platform. The tests in JCK 20 are derived from statements in the specification of the Java SE 20 platform.

JavaTest test harness is a general purpose, fully-featured, flexible, and configurable test harness very well suited for most types of unit testing, and developed as a test harness to run TCK test suites. It provides a GUI for configuring the Test executions.

JCK 20 can be run from the command line or from the JavaTest test harness. Some of the tests in JCK 20 are interactive, and present a Graphical User Interface (GUI) that the user must interact with.

Due to the JCK having to meet the criteria specified in the JSRs (Java Specification Requests), it is not possible to meet the accessibility criteria entirely as they are in conflict with the JSR. To meet the criteria would require a fundamental alteration of the product.

Date:

Archive Note:

This VPAT applies to only version 20. It does not apply to any versions of Java Compatibility Kit after this. This VPAT has been superseded by Java Compatibility Kit 21.

Notes:

This ACR does not cover the following product areas:

  • Batch-mode tests in the JCK (not interactive)

The configuration and harness GUI is provided by JavaTest test harness. JavaTest respects and uses the OS settings for High Contrast and Large Fonts.  JavaTest changes the Look and Feel (L&F)  to the OS's native Look  and Feel, and enables High Contrast and Large Fonts to be used, based on those OS settings.

Evaluation Methods Used:

Oracle's policy is to design, develop and test both products and documentation to be accessible. The recommended styles of testing for accessibility include: (i) algorithmic automated tests, (ii) human judgement tests such as tool-assisted tests, visual inspection and manual operation, and (iii) testing with assistive technology by people with and without disabilities. Additional information about Oracle's accessibility program is available on http://www.oracle.com/corporate/accessibility/index.html
