This VPAT only covers ADF Faces Rich Client Components (output of JDeveloper), 11g R1 Fusion Apps Rel10 11.1.1.7.10ADF-FAREL10.   It does not cover issues when developing native mobile apps or that are built on ADF Mobile Browser framework that uses Apache MyFaces Trinidad components.  Please also refer to the ADF Mobile VPAT for any application issues that were built on ADF Mobile Browser framework using Apache MyFaces Trinidad components and not on ADF Faces rich client components.  For the JDeveloper user environment, refer to the Oracle JDeveloper 11g R1 Fusion Apps Rel10 11.1.1.7.10ADF-FAREL10.

ADF is capable of rendering content as described below, when an application developer uses it according to guidance provided in the reference manual, and follows all other applicable accessibility standards and guidelines, and in conjunction with the following 3 runtime modes: To provide content that is optimized for screen reader users, then the "accessibility mode" option should be set to "screenReader" in the application's trinidad-config.xml file. To provide content that is optimized for users who leverage platform high-contrast capabilities, then the "accessibility-profile" option should be set to "high-contrast" in the trinidad-config.xml file. To view content in large font that works in conjunction with browser zoom, then the "large-fonts" option should be set in trinidad-config.xml file. These options can all be dynamically specified on a per-user basis. For more information, see the Apache Trinidad Developer's Guide. The information provided in this VPAT only applies when the relevant mode is enabled for each applicable technical standard. Also, given the visual nature of the Geographic Map and the tools on the toolbar, we recommend providing alternate renderers like ADF Faces Tables for the data to allow selections in accessible mode.

The information below describes this product's ability to support the applicable U.S. Section 508 standards and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 1.0 Double-A Guidelines, subject to Oracle's interpretation of those standards and the remarks in this document.

Section 1194.21 Software Applications and Operating Systems

  1. Bug# 7610581 : Not able to scroll the DVT Flash graph using the keyboard.
  2. Bug# 16068227: In ScreenReader mode and with AutoSubmit turned on, pressing Enter in InputNumberSpinBox does not fire ValueChangeEvent. However, tabbing out of the box does fire this event.
  3. Bug# 11892309: The ADF tree cannot be navigated through completely with only the keyboard.
  4. Bug# 18170095: In the Browser Based Theme Editor, while tabbing through the different links,  what the screen reader reads before editing varies from what it reads after editing.
  5. Bug# 17210559: In the Show details pop-up, when the 'OK' button is clicked, no action is performed, and the popup still remains open.
  6. Bug# 16306021: In the DVT diagrammer, the palette and the legend elements of HTML 5 diagrams are currently not accessible.
  7. Bug# 20343430: In any tree table with branched questions/nodes, in the accessibility mode, the first tree leaf node is not identified.
  8. Bug# 20343867: In the screenreader mode, when we click on the Monitor icon, and navigate to View Menu-->Columns Menu-->Question Text Check Menu Item, the Question Text is marked as as an entry field, even though it is read-only the corresponding label is missing. 
  9. Bug# 20546800: In the screenreader mode, the clienlistener on an active component does not get called at all, which results in the Toaster in EM not working in the screenreader mode.


 
1194.21(b) Applications shall not disrupt or disable activated features of other products that are identified as accessibility features, where those features are developed and documented according to industry standards. Applications also shall not disrupt or disable activated features of any operating system that are identified as accessibility features where the application programming interface for those accessibility features has been documented by the manufacturer of the operating system and is available to the product developer. Product has been developed to conform to this standard subject to the remarks on the right.

The product was tested for response to the following operating system accessibility features:

  • Sticky Keys, Filter Keys and Toggle Keys
  • Sound Sentry
  • High Contrast

Note: these feature names are the terms used on Windows; other platforms have their own unique terminology.

Exceptions :

  1. Bug# 14751806: While using high contrast accessibility settings, the thumbs are not visible on the inputRangeSlider component.
  2. Bug# 18170177: In the Browser Based Theme Editor (BBTE), some errors are seen when color contrast is enabled.
  3. Bug# 16682226: In the high contrast mode, the borders do not show up for the input textfield and the drop down list.


 
1194.21(c) A well-defined on-screen indication of the current focus shall be provided that moves among interactive interface elements as the input focus changes. The focus shall be programmatically exposed so that assistive technology can track focus and focus changes. Product has been developed to conform to this standard subject to the remarks on the right.

The product was tested for:

  • Visual cue or feedback to the position of the cursor within the product
  • Cursor focus is programmatically exposed

Exceptions:

  1. Bug# 16530272: After creating a new node in a tree table,the focus goes to the Create button link instead of the child node.
     
1194.21(d) Sufficient information about a user interface element including the identity, operation and state of the element shall be available to assistive technology. When an image represents a program element, the information conveyed by the image must also be available in text. Product has been developed to conform to this standard subject to the remarks on the right.

The product was tested for:

  • Controls have a programmatically associated name, derived from the appropriate HTML elements and attributes including LABEL, TITLE, SUMMARY, CAPTION, etc.
  • Additional state information is programmatically exposed, such as whether a field is required.
  • Images that convey information can have meaningful alternative text supplied.

Exceptions:

  1. Bug# 18170173: The screen reader labels do not have the complete information for the Browser Based Theme Editor (BBTE) section .
  2. Bug# 17822011: In the Preferences --> Search page, the description for the icons in the Graphic list of the screen reader does not match their enabled/disabled status as shown on the screen.


 
1194.21(e) When bitmap images are used to identify controls, status indicators, or other programmatic elements, the meaning assigned to those images shall be consistent throughout an application's performance. Product has been developed to conform to this standard subject to the remarks on the right.

The product was tested for:

  • Images that convey information can have meaningful alternative text using ALT and if necessary, LONGDESC
  • Images that are decorative can be marked so as to be ignored by assistive technology, either by using ALT="" or CSS background images
1194.21(f) Textual information shall be provided through operating system functions for displaying text. The minimum information that shall be made available is text content, text input caret location, and text attributes. Product has been developed to conform to this standard subject to the remarks on the right.

The product was tested for:

  • Text is supplied through HTML or injected into the browser DOM; the browser is responsible for exposing all such content in a way that is usable by assistive technology on the platform.

Exceptions:

  1. Bug# 17360310: The calendar component shows up blank when the screen is in the accessibility mode.
  2. Bug# 16667370: The PanelGrid table does not render correctly in the accessibility mode.
  3. Bug# 8792367: DVT components currently do not support large fonts in the accessibility mode.
     
1194.21(g) Applications shall not override user selected contrast and color selections and other individual display attributes. Product has been developed to conform to this standard subject to the remarks on the right. The product was tested for:
  • Windows or other OS-level color settings not over-ruled by the product
1194.21(h) When animation is displayed, the information shall be displayable in at least one non-animated presentation mode at the option of the user. Product has been developed to conform to this standard subject to the remarks on the right. The product contains the following instances of animation:
  • Status indicator - The status indicator supports alternate text to indicate the state as busy or idle.
  • Loading indicator - The loading indicator is a decorative animation image that also has text explaining that the application is loading.
  • Other decorative animation effects, such as animation during the opening of popups and menus, can be turned off via a development parameter.
1194.21(i) Color coding shall not be used as the only means of conveying information, indicating an action, prompting a response, or distinguishing a visual element. Product has been developed to conform to this standard subject to the remarks on the right.

1194.21(j) When a product permits a user to adjust color and contrast settings, a variety of color selections capable of producing a range of contrast levels shall be provided. Product has been developed to conform to this standard subject to the remarks on the right. The product was tested for:

Section 1194.22 Web-based Internet Information and Applications

1194.22(d) Documents shall be organized so they are readable without requiring an associated style sheet. Product has been developed to conform to this standard subject to the remarks on the right. The product was tested for:
  • Style sheets are used only to change the layout and presentation of the page

 
1194.22(e) Redundant text links shall be provided for each active region of a server-side image map. Product has been developed to conform to this standard subject to the remarks on the right.

This product contains no server-side image maps.
1194.22(f) Client-side image maps shall be provided instead of server-side image maps except where the regions cannot be defined with an available geometric shape. Product has been developed to conform to this standard subject to the remarks on the right.

Graph components that are configured to render in PNG format can generate an image map with the ALT attribute on each AREA element. If the application is configured in screen reader mode, graph components will render data in a pivot table format.

Exceptions:

  1. Bug# 13414846 : In Screen Reader mode, Gauge components will render in PNG format and include a simple client-side image map with the ALT attribute set on each AREA element. This can sometimes cause screen reader technologies to read the underlying data multiple times. Furthermore, if the Gauge component is data-bound to a collection such that it renders a series of multiple gauges, then the resulting image map structure can be at odds with use of the Tab key to navigate through the resulting GaugeSet.
     
1194.22(g) Row and column headers shall be identified for data tables. Product has been developed to conform to this standard subject to the remarks on the right. The product was tested when using simple data tables for:
  • Table usage: only data tables, as opposed to layout tables, use table elements of TH and CAPTION and table attributes of SUMMARY, SCOPE, HEADERS and/or AXIS
  • Each column of a data table can have markup, such as TH and SCOPE=COL
  • Each row of a data table can have at least one column marked as the row header with SCOPE=ROW

 
1194.22(h) Markup shall be used to associate data cells and header cells for data tables that have two or more logical levels of row or column headers. Product has been developed to conform to this standard subject to the remarks on the right.

The product was tested for more complex elements in a data table:

  • Complex data tables with multiple levels of table headings or other organization of data, use the ID, HEADERS, and AXIS attributes.

1194.22(k) A text-only page, with equivalent information or functionality, shall be provided to make a web site comply with the provisions of this part, when compliance cannot be accomplished in any other way. 1194.22(m) When a web page requires that an applet, plug-in or other application be present on the client system to interpret page content, the page must provide a link to a plug-in or applet that complies with §1194.21(a) through (l). If the platform supports Flash and the Flash player is not detected, the user will be prompted to install the Flash player.
