Restarting Phase 4 of an APEX Upgrade

Review the upgrade action logs, resolve any reported errors, and run the appropriate phase 4 script.

  1. Review the upgrade action logs by using one of the following options:
    • Administration Services

      1. Sign in to Administration Services
      2. Select Manage Instance
      3. Under Manage Logs and Files, select Install / Upgrade Logs
      4. Review the actions and errors for phase 4
    • Query for a PDB installation:
      select id, action_id, message
          from wwv_install_error$
          where action_id in (
              select id
                  from wwv_install_action$
              where phase = 4
                  and install_id = '2602000000' );
    • Command for a CDB installation:
      $ORACLE_HOME/perl/bin/perl -I $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/catcon.pl -b phase_4_action_errors -- --x"select id, action_id, message from wwv_install_error$ where action_id in ( select id from wwv_install_action$ where phase = 4 and install_id = '2602000000' )"
  2. Resolve the issues that caused the ORACLE_APEX_COPY_POST_METADATA background job to fail.

  3. Start SQLcl and connect to the database where APEX is installed as SYS specifying the SYSDBA role. For example:

    • On Windows:

      <SYSTEM_DRIVE>:\ sql /nolog
      SQL> CONNECT SYS as SYSDBA
      Enter password: <SYS_password>
    • On UNIX and Linux:

      $ sql /nolog
      SQL> CONNECT SYS as SYSDBA
      Enter password: <SYS_password>
  4. Execute the phase 4 script for your environment:
    • For a full development environment:

      @apexins4.sql YES
    • For a runtime-only environment:

      @apxrtins4.sql YES
  5. Position 1 controls the execution mode:

    • Specify YES to run phase 4 in the foreground
    • Specify NO to run phase 4 in the background
