Deprecated Features

Deprecated features are features which Oracle plans to desupport or remove in a future release of Oracle APEX. If a feature is related to application metadata or an API, existing applications can still use the feature, but Oracle strongly recommends that developers start to modify their applications as described in this section.

Deprecated Data Generator

The Data Generator utility in SQL Workshop is deprecated, and will be removed in a future release.

Deprecated Authentication Scheme

The Oracle Application Server Single Sign-On authentication scheme is deprecated, and will be removed in a future release.

Anyone using this scheme should switch to Social Sign-In or SAML authentication.

APEX Advisor

APEX Advisor is deprecated, and will be removed in a future release. With SQLcl 26.3.0, the built-in CODESCAN utility is significantly enhanced to introduce native code quality and security rules specifically for APEXlang applications.

Deprecated PL/SQL APIs

APEX_AI

The following record members are deprecated in APEX 26.2:

type t_chat_message is record (
    ...
    tool_calls t_chat_message_tool_calls, -- Deprecated: 26.2
    ... );

Use individual T_CHAT_MESSAGE entries with CHAT_ROLE set to C_ROLE_TOOL_CALL and the tool call stored in TOOL_CALL.

type t_chat_response is record (
    ...
    message  t_chat_message, -- Deprecated: 26.2
    ... );

Use T_CHAT_RESPONSE.MESSAGES to access all normalized messages returned by the AI provider.
