Pre-upgrade Tasks

Before upgrading Oracle Audit Vault and Database Firewall (Oracle AVDF) to the latest DBSecCentral release, complete the prerequisite tasks, such as performing a backup.

Back Up the Current Oracle Audit Vault and Database Firewall Installation

Before upgrading Oracle Audit Vault and Database Firewall (Oracle AVDF) to the latest DBSecCentral release, back up the Audit Vault Server. Backup of the Audit Vault Server also includes the backup of Database Firewall (DBFW) metadata, which you can use to reconstruct the DBFW, if needed.

If your current Audit Vault Server is installed on a virtual machine (VM), such as Oracle VM or VMWare, Oracle recommends that you take a VM snapshot before starting the upgrade process.

Open Port 7447 on the Audit Vault Server for the Audit Vault Agent

Before upgrading, ensure that port 7447 is open on the Audit Vault Server to allow the Audit Vault Agent to connect. See Ports for Services Provided by Audit Vault Server in the Oracle Database Security Central Administrator’s Guide.
